the best returning quarterback in the SEC. I know a lot of the top tier qbs are either graduating or entering the draft early but out of the returning qbs the only one that IMIGHT (but wouldn't)take over Relf is Murray at Georgia, but he plays in a pro style offence.

Sell. Murray impressed me beyond belief as a true freshmen. Not saying we don't have a great one in Relf though.

Best as in college player or best as in pro potential.

I think Murray followed by Bray at UT have the best pro potential, but right now, I think Relf is the best. Weiss will help UF's QB's as well.

Tyler Bray and Aaron Murray are both better returning QB's.

If Relf continues to improve, he should have a very impressive Senior year though.

And possibly top 3 or 4. We haven't had a situation like this in a very long time at State. Not even our better quarterbacks of the past several decades could seriously be in the conversation for best returning SEC QB (however some of them were still arguably in the top half of the SEC).

As long as he starts hot. He has most of his weapons coming back. UGA and LSU don't.

As a pure passer, it's very debatable that he's any better than Relf. When you add the running game into the equation, it's not even close.

I think he's got a good shot at challenging the rapist at LSU for 2nd team All-SEC. 2nd team All-SEC QB from MSU says more than anything in the W/L columns about Mullen to me. When was the last time we had an All-SEC QB?

Let's face facts....Relf is challenged as a passing QB. He runs well but I thought he wore down a bit at the end of the year from running it so much...he was still effective but not as explosive as he was early in the year. The pass plays he does hit are set up because of his ability to run the ball. If State is down by multiple scores and is forced to throw the ball, Russell is the better option.

Relf is a player that teams have to scheme to stop, which is the ultimate compliment you can give him, but make no mistake, Relf won't play a down of football as a QBafter he's done at State. There are better true QBs in the league.

Murray may end up being one of the best to ever play at Georgia. Bray still has a long way to go, but he certainly can wing it.

Mullen should get a bronze star for what he's been able to do with Relf.

Oh, I completely agree. But strictly speaking Mullen's resume, to come in and turn in a scrub 3rd string 2-star QB into 2nd team All-SEC at Mississippi State, none the less, would be more impressive than the W/L's. But Mullen aside, yes, I'd rather have more W's.

we rarely get down by multiple scores these days

and I'd say it's 50/50 at best Russell is even the back-up in 2011

Bray or Murray would get killed in our offense. A drop back passer does us little good. Relf is the best in the SEC for what we want to do.

He made a lot of strides, and honestly, I think if we had to throw, he could do it now. Before the Arkansas game, I don't think he could, but him having three good passing games in a row shows me that he can do it.

He had completion percentages of 65% or better his last few games, and I think he only had two INT's his last three games- one of which was a Hail Mary in the Gator Bowl at the end of the half. So, it wasn't like it was a horrible mistake on his part in that instance.

I think he will have a big senior year, and I think he will set the school single season record for passing TD's next year and possibly has an outside shot at setting the school record for TD passes.

Murray is gonna be a good one, and the kid at Ark will put up monster numbers this year.

Look, Relf played well the last 3 games, but lets keep things in context. Those were some very, very bad Ds we played in Ark, Ole Miss, and Michigan. I want to see Relf putting up numbers against the Ds in the top half (or quarter) of the SEC, before we start talking about being tops in the SEC.

If there were a lottery for QBs and we had to pull from the returning SEC QBs who would you pick? For me, its Murray.

Yeah, because it's not like Relf hasn't gone a whole year and a half without getting in trouble. Oh wait. He has? Damn, there goes your ignorant argument, Mrs. Russell.

I can't believe you typed that. Russell may get better (and probably will since he has an actual coach now.), but what in the blue hell did you see out of him that leads you to believe this now? Before you say anything, Coach34 and I could've thrown 4 TD passes against Memphis' defense.

Relf greatly improved as the season went along (there's that coaching thing again) with his passing. He's no Joe Montana, but we don't need him to be.

I'd say buy. He or Murray is the best returning starter. The guy for Arkansas is good, but he's not a returning starter. He also made a ton of mistakes against auburn. Garcia is worse than relf, he really isn't that good, look what happened to south Carolina after Lattimore went down against FSU. We'll see what Brantley does this year in a more pro style offense, but he was bad this past year. Jefferson at LSU will most likely lose his starting job this off season to mettenburger. And we'll see how bray is, but I'm not sold on him yet.

Relf could have a special year this year. Depends on our O line and if our receivers continue to progress like they did towards the end of the season.

for a year and half is suddenly going to get himself in the dog house aGAIN? A guy that worked his *** off to improve and be the sole QB for this team? Sorry, that doesn't cut it. Relf has improved exponentially, worked as hard as anyone on the team to improve, and given no one reason to think he's been in trouble since his suspension in '09. Really, where do you people come from?

Oh, and learn to reply. Where's that tutorial pic when I need it.

First of all, Russell hasn't impressed me at all. Okay? I mean, it isn't hard to stand out against Memphis. It's effing Memphis!!! Relf, for Mullen's offense, clearly the better of the two, and one of the top returning QBs in the sec. You wanna know what I saw when I looked at Bray and Murray? Two QBS who lost a bowl game against two teams that State would have anhilated. Sometimes our own fans irritate more than some other team's fans ever have.
