We have 6 home games left and this weekend is our best chance to win one of them.

I think Georgia Tech is the best chance. I'd say either LSU or Houston is number two though.

I guess I'll rank them:

1) GT
2) Houston
3) LSU
4) Ole Miss
5) Florida
6) Bama

The GA Tech game will be the best chance for a win. But I do think this one is winnable.

Ga Tech or Houston, despite what happened last year in Atlanta or Houston's video-game type offense this year.

retardedku.

We have a better chance against Ga Tech, Houston, and Mississippi. We might can luck up and win this game this weekend. But, the odds are way against us. However, the OM game -- slightly worse than a toss up for us due to the rivalry.

Washington beating USC showed me what I already thought about LSU- they are good. Ga Tech's secondary may be as bad as ours. And hopefully it will rain when we play Houston

Myth. We never beat them when they are significantly better than us.

though I would put LSU, Ga Tech and OM on about the same plane.

Is a full step below Mississippi and LSU- we will give the Jackets all they want in Starkville

...and obviously our body of work includes being lit up by the run and shutting it down against two different teams with different personnel. Rarely does one single factor play into a game's prospect so much. If you can stop the run, you win that game. I believe we can do enough offensively, and they are not a threat to beat you deep. Obviously, if we play like last year, we have no chance. The one thing against us against Ga. Tech is that I think our linebackers are slow. We got beat to the corner alot by Auburn.

...And we certainly weren't 21 points better in 2005.

Rivalry points count for something. It's our turn to beat them. It's at home. That will count for something. And there is a lot to be decided between now and then. Their record will be inflated in relation to "how good they are" due to their easy schedule. Ours will go the same way due to our difficult schedule.

LSU is much better than GT. They whipped them in the bowl game last year.

Most winnable games in order:
1. MTSU
2. GT
3. Houston
4. UK
5. Arkansas
6. LSU
7. Ole Miss
8. Bama
9. UF

My apologies, I didn't mean literally never. Should have said "extremely rarely"

2001 is the only time I can think of. People always say "you never know with a rivalry game." Upsets happen. Looking back over our recent history against Ole Miss, it seems to me that they happen no more often in our series than they do in football in general.

...that we will alternate with Ole Miss unless the team who won the previous year is significantly better than the other. Ole Miss is probably significantly better, but I still say that we have the emotional edge, unless they are playing for a division championship or something like that.

there's a chance......

And then there was the 1988 game. We were a lot better than then, and somehow we managed to lose that game.

Yep. And then there's the game against Kentucky in 1998. We were better than them, but they beat us. Then 2 years ago, they were better than us, but we beat them.

Throw out the records when the Dawgs and Cats get together!

The only team we were better than was LA Tech. If you're thinking of the 1999 game, we were 10-2 that year (against a weak schedule) and Mississippi was 8-4. We were better than them, but it's not like that was a huge upset.

VegasDawg is right. Upsets in the MSU-UM series are very rare.

One thing I noticed in the Auburn game was that not only were our LBs lining up 6 yards off the line of scrimmage, all 3 of them were inside the tackles. They may be slow, but if they'd been lined up better against Auburn they'd have gotten to the outside sooner.

with LSU close second. I dont think we have a very good chance against Houston. OM is becoming more winnable

....a game left on the schedule that MSU will win, not unless MTSU fails to hold serve at home. LSU always outclasses MSU at every position, and some of the best MSU teams couldn't beat them in the past. Ga. Tech will run roughshod on MSU, but I'll grant there's a slight possibility for an MSU upset if they can stop Tech's run game. I doubt it though. Houston will probably pass for 500 yards and blow out MSU. There's no other road game in the SEC that MSU will win because both UK and Arkansas are MUCH better than Vandy, and the rest of the home games are totally unwinnable against Florida, Bama, and Ole Miss. And by the way, I believe Ole Miss is for real. They haven't had a chance to prove it yet, but they will win at South Carolina and get the ball rolling.

So, I guess I'd say that if there's a game left that MSU has any chance at, it's Ga. Tech, but I ain't buying it.
