whomever is visiting this weekend needs to know who it will be but not necessarilly that the public should know. So maybe the answer is yes, but not officially hired.
Carlos Thompson needs to know who the DC and DL coach are going to be. If we want any shot at him, we need to move fast on both fronts. Also, we need to hire a DC so we can decide which LB we want, Chris Hughes or Taurice King, before it's too late.
Timing is good. Let's not get stuck on the wrong end of the coaching carousel - to mix metaphors.
and really if it was going to be Diaz it probably should have already happened given his bowl has been over for nearly a month. I also think the DC hire is even more important because we are now also down a DL coach.
I'd like to see us hire the new DC before this weekend and then formally announce him at the basketball game Saturday night. Does anybody know by chance if we are bringing the recruits down by the floor and up to their seats at the basketball game Saturday like we did last year? that seemed to go over pretty well
...that being said if the USC/Tennessee brouhaha's stirred things up for another potential candidate, I wouldn't mind a slight wait. </p>
He has some decent commits. The lack of a DC before this weekend could hurt some, but if he makes a hire in the next week or so, it should be fine. Not saying a DC is not important, but Mullen would be selling the program and not Torbush if he were still here anyway.
Hire Diaz today and have him in town for this weekend's basketball game so he can meet with the recruits (Especially Carlos Thompson)
