base it on whatever you want. Just curious why or why not some think he is an upgrade. I don't know a whole lot about him yet.

We were stuck in neutral with Stans. Drew at least has a chance to put us in drive. Stupid analogy but thats how I look at it.

On the plus side his father and brother are both very good coaches.

On the negative side, I do not know if he can recruit and I have not watched any Valpo games when he was the head coach.

If we can get Pollard and keep Gray I think we may actually have a pretty fun team to watch next year.

None of us have any real idea how good of a job Drew is going to do at MSU. But the program HAD to move on to now. If we'd kept Stans any longer, we'd probably have had another 2003 in football on our hands in the next year or two.

Stans pulled the ejection handle and bailed out. The plane is still in a free fall. Whomever the coach is will have quite a job in front of them.

I am playing Devil's Advocate with that statement.

I seriously don't know much about him and figured some of you would. Does anyone know anything about the way he deals with players, X's and O's ability, use of time outs (kidding), etc.

Or is this guy better because he isn't Rick?

Shirley someone thinks the guy is an upgrade for something other than the fact that his last name isn't Stansbury.

...Stansbury had been mailing it in for at least the last 2 seasons.

At this point in time, anybody with a pulse will be an upgrade over Stansbury.

Its easy to forget how good a job Stansbury did for awhile at MSU. Making the NCAA tourney 6 out of 8 years was a great accomplishment but I think most anyone could see that he had lost his drive and desire to coach and new blood was needed badly.

There seriously is not much press about his coaching. Almost everything you find is about The Shot or other parts of his playing days.

I am ready to hear what he has to say at the press conference about coachingif he is hired.

he isn't an upgrade. His resume doesn't even remotely match up to Stansbury. He has had 1 year head coaching experience.

Like someone told me, maybe we caught the next big thing before he becomes the next big thing or he could absolutely suck.

But as I said, a change was needed and if he is our coach, he's got my support until I don't support him anymore (obvious answer, I know).

Drew's wikipedia page still says he's the head coach at Valpo. Until that changes, I'm not going to believe the wild rumors flying around.

Rick will be hanging around the hallways. I think it's too bad that Rick will still be around and feel that Stricklin was more or less forced to keep him around and find or create some type of job for him....another Felker deal. Nothing against Rick but I wish he had other options.

huge sell. He may be great but there isn't enough of a record to tell. If he is the hire it tells you one thing I WAS right about when this started.

Year 1 he gets a free pass.

Year 2, we should be a bubble team

Year 3, we need to be a 6 seed (or better).

and since he's played in The Dance and also professionally, I'll buy for now. His family and professionalpettigree say he knows basketball. We'll see if he can recruit in the south.

It puts new energy into the program and Bryce's upside is worth the risk. He's young, smart and his brother and dad are both pretty damn good. I know the guy can shoot so look for MSU to improve in atleast that area for sure. I would suspect his family will help him a lot. With all the ties the Drew's know he should get some decent assistants too. Now can he recruit? His brother certainly can. Baylor has had top signing classes lately.

So let's say he gets a 7 seed in year 3. Should we fire him? We haven't been a 6 seed or higher since 2004, but you expect a 3rd year HC to come in to our current situation and be a 6 seed or higher in the NCAA Tournament? Those are totally unrealistic expectations, and no matter who we hired you were going to be very disappointed because I don't see anyone out there we could have hired within reason that would take our current team to a 6 seed or bettter in 3 years. </p>
