Huh? Won't he be playing basketball after we win the national championship in football?

He may very

well be, but from everything I've seen (between his high school situation, to his constant rants on twitter) he is extremely immature. He just seems to be the complete opposite of Dak, as far as that goes.

Hopefully playing basketball will calm him down some. Who knows though? Maybe you're right and that's why we're signing 2 more qb's this year

You people who think you can read the tea leaves that is an 18 year old's Twitter feed make me laugh. Seriously, go find another 18 year old who isn't a football player and see what you can tell me about them.

You cannot

deny that he seems to exhibit premadonna tendencies. Add to that his fiasco in high school with getting kicked off his team and it just raises questions about his maturity. I'm not claiming to be Sig Freud, rather just starting a discussion. Hell I had the misfortune of watching the coaches' wives show, and he's having to run laps (presumably) because of his behavior. It's just a snowball effect of events as to why I bring it up.

Why would you even post this? If he is on the fence (and there is absolutely no indication whatsoever that he is), the last thing he needs is some group of grown men discussing the possibility and bashing him on the Internet...

What about the QB from Mesquite, Tx? He seems to be leading the state. That would put 5 QB's on scholarship. (Assuming Dak comes back for his senior year). I'm not an expert but that seems scholy heavy for quarterbacks.

I don't know,

because it's an MSU message board where we discuss sports related issues. I don't think some Joe Blow's post on SPS is going to cause him to transfer, and if it did I'd say good riddance.

I think staley leaving the football team for the basketball team full time is more of a concern

Well, it's not like his dad hasn't posted here. And it's not like this same thread hasn't been posted a few times before...

I saw her talking to him in a segment on the SEC Network show featuring the SEC coach's wives....she was on the practice field watching somebody running by themselves (punishment ?) and saying it must be a freshmen...then she said "I bet that's who Dan is worried about quitting." The next scene is her walking & talking with Staley...anyone else see this show last night ?

Buy. He's got a chance to be Dak's backup and successor.

And when's the last time we had a lefty QB?

The quarterback situation will work itself out. Do you want a situation like we were in last year?

So does Mullen

Telling his wife that he's afraid of a freshman quitting, then it showing Staley running as (presumably) punishment, then the next scene showing Meg Mullen consoling Staley telling him to not give up, not raise questions?

Perspective. The fact that you lack it is surprisingly unsurprising.

What do we gain by talking **** about the guy that Mullen openly calls "his first 5* QB recruit at MSU" who was the first top priority that's actually shown up since Dak -- in a place where it's almost certain that he will see/hear about it? A guy that has yet to take an actual snap at MSU and has all the upside and promise in the world. Being bashed basically to his face because he allows MSU fans to follow him on twitter and presume to define meanings of tweets that would almost certainly be reeled in by our staff if they were actually about MSU.

It's 17ing stupid is all. Pointless and stupid. The kid ain't Dak -- and our fanbase needs to prepare for the fact that the next guy will NOT be Dak. Bryce Petty isn't RG3. That doesn't mean the next guy can't be elite in his own right. But given his obvious "premadonna" tendencies -- I'm damn happy Cam Newton didn't actually show up in Starkville!11!1

You once again pull the patented engie post, deflect by focussing on

a minute detail of the post, then run it into the ground.

Dan Mullen himself said the same thing you are claiming I am dumb for saying.

I asked a simple question. Answer the question. Don't ******* ruin the thread. The thread isn't "will so and so get his feelings hurt," **** for brains. It's rather simple. You respond with "buy" or "sell." Spare the useless window dressing. Answer the question. Seriously, answer the question.

I couldn't care less if he does or doesn't.

If he did, I'd tell him he'd have a chance to learn under one of the top coaches in college (at developing qbs).

Yeah it is. Lots of changes that

these kids aren't used to. Always a level-headed post from you coach.

From a friend who has had the opportunity to watch practice, Fitzgerald is way ahead of Staley at this time.

Fitz really impressed me in the spring game but I've also heard form some folks that Dan thinks Staley could be the most talented QB he's ever worked with. Let's just say for the first ime in our school's history we are very blessed at the QB position.

Always a flare for the dramatic. Honestly based on his HS record, if he can't get his head out of his ***, No I do not want his sulking coach second guessing *** around our team-first team. I hope he reads this and gets his head out of his *** and loses that me-first mentality that was obvious on the wives of the SEC show. Sure he's talented, it takes more than talent.

Mullen also coached a freshman named Cam Newton who was also a little immature... and he was a national championship QB a couple of years later.

I'm with HD6 - you can't judge a player's twitter account. If I did, I would have thought Josh Robinson would have quit the team 27 times in the past 2 years.

Unless Fitzgerald can just do things physically that Staley can't, I don't know why Staley not catching up to Fitzgerald yet when Fitzgerald has had roughly twice the time in the program would be surprising. At the end of next summer, if Fitzgerald is still wy ahead of Staley, that will be a better indication that Fitzgerald is just better.
