If Stans does not take this team to the Tourney this year...Is this his worst coaching job to date?

Whether or not you support Stansbury, you should be able to answer this question objectively. Even if you think he is a Wizard, do you consider this season his worst performance thus far? It doesn't mean he should be fired, it doesn't even necessarily mean he is a bad coach...simply put, is this his worst effort?

Outside of 3 teams, the SEC is pretty terrible this year. We are loaded with experience. We have one of the best defensive players in the country - best shotblocker of all time. We are getting Barry Stewart's best season since he has been here. We have a talented point guard. We have size and athleticism at the 4. We have a good bench with Osby and Phil.

Buy.

its neck and neck with the 08 squad but that team did at least get to the tourney and win a game.

I haven't hated an MSU basketball team as much as this one since Richard William's 1992-1994 and 1997-1998 teams. There's no excuse for this team to not have an NCAA spot clinched well before now.

We are no better than we were last year and we returned everything.

We rely on low percentage shots to win ball games. We have no other options in scoring when those shots aren't falling. That's simply bad coaching. You always need a Plan B and when you don't, that goes on the coach. We don't have a true center, but combine Varnardo with Osby/Augustus (they have big bodies, I don't care if they or Stans think they are slashers) and there is no reason we can't be at least moderately effective with an inside presence. We have pigeon holed ourselves into jacking up 3's and hoping they go in.

...that dicked around so bad in the preseason, then went 12-4 and got that 8 seed.

But this year is definitely it. To go from a preseason top 20 team to not making the tournament.

In fact, even if he somehow makes the tournament at this point, it's an underachievement.

It's a Buy. We should be Tournament bound without question this season. I'm not ready to fire the man if we don't make it though.

No reason for this team to not be competing for a 4,5 or 6 seed instead of hoping to just make it.

But scheduling also plays a part in this- we put ourselves behind the 8-ball each season by scheduling so poorly.

Assuming he fists himself and yanks another tourney miracle right out of his ***, he might end up a 12/13 seed this time, where he might be able to yank out yet another miracle of 2 tourney wins.

I have always supported Stans but I do agree it is not one of the best jobs this year. Might not be all his fault considering the fact he scheduled some good teams in the past who are ****** this year(UCLA and Depaul). I think people make a big deal out of returning starters but Kodi, Osby, and Turner have been as inconsistent as can be. I have no idea what has happened to Phil but since the LSU game he has not played defense at all and has been careless with the ball. Outside of Bost, Varnado, and Stewart nobody has performed with any consistency and don't forget that Dee turned the ball over and missed two freebies that cost us a game earlier this year in the last minute that really hurt our RPI.Auburn played lights out last night but we sure helped them by playing bad defense and had very little weak side help for anybody. I still think we can make the tourney but it is going to take two or three more wins and I am not sure we can beat two upper division teams from the east in a row and that is what we have to do.

the 1980's called- they said to remind you that Depaul hasnt been good in basketball in quite awhile. We scheduled ****** like we always do. UCLA was bad luck, but we still needed 2 or 3 more games against solid competition.

And to clarify, I said nothing about scheduling Dook, Kansas, or Villanova...I said solid teams
