I see a few similarities:<div>- An experienced, Player's coach who's brought teams back when they were considered dead as a program...only this time, the old fire is gone and he's running on fumes.</div><div>- Heralded Top 15 Classes two years in a row.</div><div>- Defensive coordinator who doesn't know what in the world he's doing.</div><div>- Opening opponent an innovative offensive team from the West.</div><div>
</div><div>

Stockpiling on jucos to plug the holes.
Coach at the end of his prime.
No clear cut leader at QB.
Fan base running their mouths about a highly ranked recruiting class.
About to get that tail beat at home by the Mormans.

Very similar.

Idon't seethe rampant lack of discipline we saw in 2003. I don't see any key players quitting the team half-way through spring practice only to come back with no consequences at all in the summer. I don't see a big NCAA cloud hanging over their heads. I don't see a coach who's decided to quit giving a 17. The Bears will have a very bad season this fall, but they're nowhere near in as bad a shape as we were in 2003.

Jackie had been essentially handed over to the NCAA by our own ***** *** AD. He gave up after that.

Nutt is trying to make this work, and I think he can given a couple more years. He just let a couple of classes fall apart on him and he hasn't hit the transfer QB lottery yet. Last year Masoli kept them from being a 2-10 team because the rest of the team was screwing around. Without a savior athlete to rely on Nutt is going to have to keep his guys in line this year and I think he knows that.

If CJ or Brassell end up not on the team next year, he can go ahead and pull the plug.
