We have to force Dak Prescott into being a Tyler Russell style QB in 2014 because we can't risk having him run around and get hurt, leaving us with a true freshman playing the rest of the season.

Sell. We will be okay. Not an ideal situation right now, but we'll be fine. Sandberg could make it to campus, we could get Jason Smith, we could get another QB. You can't change Dak into a pocket passer. See Tim Tebow.

ETA: Worst case scenario, if Dak gets hurt, we have to play a WR at QB in the wildcat and our offense runs smoother than it did in 2012 and 2013*

We can always go the juco route and get a solid backup next year to makeup for not getting one this year (assuming Cord goes MLB)

Myles has said he wants to play QB in college but it willing to play DB. Looks like he's going to get his shot at QB.

Yep. Not ideal,but an option.

Sucks that it may have to be considered.

Anyone know anything about Steven Swindle? He's listed as QB on the MSU roster. He was a freshman this year.

Unless Mullen pulls a rabbit out of his ***, if Sandberg goes baseball it's not going to be an option, it's going to be a necessity. I like Mullen a lot overall, but his QB recruiting the last 4 years is inexcusable.

First of all Gabe Miles is NOT a viable option at QB. I have seen him play teams like WP (very physical) who he was scared to get hit. Boy I'll tell you this is as badly mismanaged as I have ever seen.

As far as Dak: Sell on him having to be like Tyler. He'll just have to be Dak.

Sell because I don't think dak has the where-with-all to handle an expanded playbook.

I'm not certain it's a job requirement. Relf did pretty well in 2010 and I think Dak is a better passer. the qb position in the offense best suited for Dak requires a willingness to keep the ball, and the ability to make a quick decision based on the defense. At the end of the day, it's just 5 plays. Handoff left, run left, handoff right, run right, or throw.

I realize you mean the drop back offense is the one he doesnt have the where with all to handle with plays, so i guess i should qualify my statement by saying, "I agree". Hell of a lot less wordy.

What exactly is your where with all pertaining. Because he's very smart and works very hard. Don't forget the top coaches in the country went after him and doesn't look like QBs. looking to play are interested in even competing with him for the job. He has some where with all.

He's gonna be a stud QB for us...no doubt about it. He's got everything it takes.

SELL...Mullen is probably gonna be the drukest he's been the day Russell is gone. And no offense to Russell, I love him and bet Mulln dos too. However, he needs that QB to be able to run and Dak seems to be able to. If he gets hurt this guy from N.O can play same style. Mullen is really creative(it seems) in his style. But out of it, doesn't seem as much. Hopefully I'm totally wrong and our offense is more creative this year wiht Rusell.
