Petrino will remain as head coach after he delivers yet another tearful confession and is "fined" a substantial portion of his salary. The AD will claim that he has seen "growth" and "spiritual development" in poor Bobby...and all things will be good by August 2012.
Not just for this, but I bet another woman or two comes forward soon further damaging his reputation. Petrino wasn't wearing a helmet during his joy ride with his girlfriend. Riding around on your motorcycle and no helmet with an attractive young woman is reckless. Petrino obviously doesn't give a **** and is a "grass is greener" kind of guy. Petrino has done this before.

doing. Does he deserve to be fired? Probably. I can look at that AD and tell you he aint got the hair on his balls to fire Petrino, though.
They might get sued by people that applied for the job his mistress has or something along those lines, but the entire fanbase would be in a nuclear meltdown if they fired him in April. It would be better to dole out a few hundred thousand to a couple of people than deal with that.
The only way I see him getting fired is if the AD finds he's lied about a bunch of other stuff or done something illegal.

he's 17ing toast. It's a University first. As a University employee you can't lie to them. All the faculty that hate how coaches and athletes are idolized will make sure Petrino gets fired. Every University has these faculty that can't stand preferential treatment shown to coaches who are employed just like them. Petrino is done.
If he had come clean about the affair on Tuesday when he was first asked about it he probably would have been OK. Hell, Rick Pitino had sex on top of a restaurant table and came out of that unscathed. However, you DO NOT lie to your boss about anything as big as this. He has caused great embarrassment to the university and straight up lied to his boss about it. He's gone.
