The resaon Rick's Rowdies doesn't work is because you are trying to force something that must create itself. The Cameron Crazies work because it is all derived out of student desire not a forced or manipulated situation. I was at State 96-01, and the hump was loud due to all students getting into it. You stood in line and raced for seats. Anybody that was in the first couple of rows was there because they had the want to, and not the want to be on TV. I think any time you try to organize a student spirit committee it kills everything. Oh and the rowdies should dis-ban for sure after Meo had to come to your section and take over. PAWNED!

Do you think people are just given the lower seats now?
I guess you could maybe say that since its rare any of the students out of a small core of us care to be down in the lower seats most games.
I have sat on the front row with most of my friends because we are dedicated to being the first ones there for every home game the past two years.
Its a rare day me and my friends not outside the hump a good 5 hours before a game and some of us have camped out 4-5 times over the past two year including in the snow for senior day last season.
and i personally could care less about being on tv. Im there and on almost all the road games to cheer for state.

As far as Meo coming over, this was the first time she has ever come over and stayed.. she was standing right behind me for the last 10 minutes of the second half or so and she said on that day she was tired of all the old people who weren't cheering.

Now, if you want to address what is wrong with the rowdies I can tell you. Its because their is no leadership in the "Ricks Rowdies"
All the damn group is about is a freaking $10 t-shirt.
There are no meetings, there are no benefits, there is no organazation at any games for any purpose.
I have been told by others things have been progessivly getting worse for several years now, but I can vouch for the past two.
The Baptist Student Union has pretty much taken over the group and thus ruined everything about it.
The last president gave the position of president to a fellow bsu friend John Sparks when he was only a sophmore.
Sparkie has used the position as only something else to put on his resume, and even flaunts it on his ad for Treasury for SA this year.
This goes directly against the rules of the organzation that officers would be elected not appointed.

To sum things up.. the "Ricks Rowdies" will not work until a new leadership structure and a way to
market and make students interested in the group. If a student is only invested because of the "cool" t-shirt than that is very little.

Until something changes I'm done with them.

I would say the majority of the student section is doing its job. The corner of those grey seats have had players recognize them verbaly during the game the last couple of home games. As much as the rowdies dislike the people that sit in these seats they do their job unlike the rowdies

The rowdies are representing our school. It is the first impression many have of our students. I know when I graduated that we had some pretty hot babes. Every time I watch a game, the cameraman is zooming in on some BEAST that should have been grazing at south farm. I just wish we could slap some Tee shirts on some smoking-hot huge breasted freshman babes. It's better marketing for the school.

The people in it are just the people who can't get involved in anything else, They chant player's names EVERY SINGLE time they score, They allow the candyman to sit up in the front, The shirts are not even maroon, They do the "Maroon.........White........" cheer 4-5 times in a game, They do not taunt other players.

Students still care about basketball, but over the past few years there's been so much hatred on the Rowdies that even if the gray seats were empty, students would rather sit a few rows higher in the maroon seats just to show they aren't Rowdies. We used to sit in the gray seats, but we didn't wear those dumb shirts. I remember that year they said "bringing STATE back" or something. Pathetic. I remember when we showed up to a meeting for an "election" only to be notified that John Sparks had been annointed president. That was 06-07, maybe? That's when it really started going down...</p>

The students need to be moved directly behind the goal from sideline to sideline. There needs to be matching shirts that everyone would wear without feeling like a big douche. They need to be made to cheer while standing up the whole time. Even if someone has to walk around with guns drawn, student support at the game is possibly the worse in the country. No imagination, no excitement, except at the beginning of the game. This was a place that intimidated opponents not so long ago, now we might as well have Barney the dinosaur roaming the coliseum making balloon animals for the fans. I don't get it, but you see most of the other schools students getting excited and crazy during the game. Gonzaga was getting *** raped by Memphis last week ,and the crowd went insane when the lead was cut to 13 with 3 and a half minutes to go in the game. Maybe it is an SEC thing, and I know there is not much to get excited about in the conference this year. To take a line from Dan Mullen, do we wish to be a good program or do we want to be a program that gets national attention. We as fans can contribute. The image of our sports at MSU is changing, How about the fans get off their ***, and do more besides getting carple tunnel from ringing cowbells! GTHOM. BEAT LSU TOO!
