I don't ever wanna play Maine again. Of course we are 99.9999% probably gonna win but if we lost again you would NEVER hear the end of it. We win and nobody cares. So we have nothing to win but everything to lose. 17 that and we'd have to pay them. Nope no way no thanks don't ever wanna see Maine again.

Division II is for schools like Delta State. The FCS (formerly I-AA) is for smaller schools who play Division I in all sports, but aren't $$ enough to compete in football with the likes of Alabama, LSU, etc.<div>
</div><div>Moving past that point, I would love to see it, but I think it makes more sense to rotate the 3 SWAC schools from Mississippi. More interesting for the locals, and there's absolutely no way that one of those 3 would ever beat us, even if we brought Croom back to coach. The SWAC is that bad.</div>

There's a 100% chance we'd win. Not a chance in hell we'd lose that game. There's nothing to gain by beating them, just a thought if we had to play a UT Martin again, why not make it Maine? It would certainly make for a more interesting game for us...and them I guess. Hell it might even make the press when College Gameday Final shows the highlights of the game.

Since we beat La Tech and all? Either way... don't really care one way or another, but I do prefer playing the SWAC schools because of proximity and the fanbase they draw.

and start the next year as preseason top 5 their is always a chance we lose. I don't think we will lose and I want blood from them bad buttttttttt I literally had to make a running joke out of Maine to everyone I talked to about football for 2 years. If we were to somehow lose again to that school you can go ahead and chalk it up that we will be the butt end of a running Maine joke for the next 50 years. It's not worth it man. We WILL NOT be on gameday when we win but you can GUARANTEE we will if we lose. Best to stay away from this game.

as it is that they're a FCS school. I don't care if it wasAppalachianState. That's a game that we should win. If we lost to any other FCS school... there would still be catastrophic backlash. Maine is just the most recent figure head. I don't...really see how this is a game to be feared...

you didn't have to endure the last time we played Maine and LOST. I did. Pick literally any other school in the country and a lose to them would not be the same backlash and ridicule as back to back losses to Maine. Sometimes a meaningless win is not worth the damage a loss would do to your school. This is one of those times. I'm not afraid of Maine. I am sure we would beat them but I'm not 100% sure. Pick any other school please.

you'd feel better knowing that we lost to Alcorn...instead of Maine? If we lose to an FCS school then that season is already tanked. It doesn't matter if it's Maine or Arkansas St... that season is done regardless if we lose to that level of opponent. That just sounds kind of ridiculous to me.

about any loss. I can't think of a worse loss MSU has had in its last 20 years than the 04 Maine loss. Let's say we do schedule them. Guess what? MSU gets to hear all the jokes again leading upto that game all over again. It's not worth it. We win so what we are supposed to. We lose though and that negative backlash gets amplified 100x worse than a loss to Alcorn would be.

If one team can't make it UAB will happily fill in.
