Unless there's a college that is doubling up as a Chinese sweat shop producing meth at such a pace that El Polo Hermanos could go out of business, I just don't see anything that's any worse than this.

This is a legal matter. No NCAA rules were broken. The NCAA can't put a school on probation just because the coach was an arroganthypocrite who aided and abetted the rape of young children.

I was born in Pennsylvania, both my parents went to Penn State, I grew up a die hard Penn State fan. Up until a few days ago Joe Paterno could of run for President and would of won. Now I'm embarrassed to say I was a fan growing up. Jerry Sandusky and Mike McQueary are no slouches in fame in that area of the country either. Picture how Bama is towards Bear Bryant and multiply it by 10 is what JoePa means to those people. Now they are all facing the reality that everything they know to be right is in fact disgusting and tainted. I'm sick just talking about it.

I absolutely believe that the NCAA can and should do something. The athletic department knew about this and this was an issue that happened under the watch of someone who is involved in athletics. The NCAA should have the ability to do something about this because this is a complete disregard towards human life under a schools athletic department and they tried to cover it up. I really think they should give them something that makes SMU's death penalty look like a paddling.

How did these people sleep at night with this perv walking the halls and using the facilities for a decade knowing what they knew? The AG that didn't press charges (for whatever reason) with one of the victims is now the Governor of PA - so this may get bigger. Screw the NCAA, the feds should be involved at this point.

None of that violates any NCAA rule. You can say the NCAA "should" be able to do this or "should" be able to do that and you may be right, but the fact is if no NCAA rules were broken, they have no basis to do anything.

that the NCAA doesn't have any rules in place for what is expected of people employed in any athletic association on how they should treat people in morally and ethical ways. If they really don't have any rules defending matters of human neglect, then that is extremely sad.

Sandusky is definately going to jail. I'm not sure about the others because I'm not a lawyer, but I'd say that there's a better than average chance that the rest will too. Including Paterno. To me, that's worse than anything that the NCAA could ever do to them.

It would be like Bear Bryant going to jail over something.
I honestly don't know enough about what the law says in this situation. Paterno is essentially an accessory to this- so if he did go to jail or faced some charges, I wouldn't think he would be in jail for long- if at all. His superiors probably will face something.

how anyone could honestly say that paying athletes is anywhere comparable to covering up a coach raping young boys... I just can't see how the rapes are not worse than SMU... I really hope that you somehow aren't fully informed over the incident because I just don't see it...

hundreds of millions. It's also being reported that many other boys (now men) will be or are coming forward. This may drag on for years or PSU may settle quickly and generously to try to put it all in the past.

and in no way did I mean paying athletes is worse than child abuse. I just meant from a athletic program kinda way. I thought that was what the OP was meaning. I guess i was separating the legal and athletic issues and only thinking of how the program will move forward. I do know about the things done and cannot understand how someone could do anything like that. Its just absolutely awful

Miami I believe was the biggest before this, I believe no other school will get the death penatly so you can't go off
