At this point, I say buy. I think it will be LSU, UT, and Auburn/South Carolina. The SEC sucks more than I thought it did initially.

Tenn (#21), LSU (#33) and South Carolina (#41) should all get bids. And I think one team from Florida (#53), Auburn (#72 but 9-3 in their last 12 games) and Kentucky (#78) will sneak in with a bid.

The media is talking like there is going to be nine teams from the acc in. I just don't believe there will be that many from the acc getting in and only three from the SEC. I know it's a down year, but that would be ridiculous esp with Slive at the head of the committee.

SEC gets 4 maybe 5...at least one if not two of Kentucky, Fla, and Auburn will get in. If Auburn wins one game in Tampa, I think they will get in- 2 gets them in fo sho

Auburn, holders of a mid-70s RPI, in a conference that is not just perceived as down, but actually down, is going to get in by winning two games in Tampa? Perhaps MAYBE if they beat LSU (which you didn't even include) and win two in Tampa, then MAYBE. But even then it is a long long long shot. I think three are in but four is starting to look more unlikely unless UF or UK play their way in. The winner of that game this weekend needs to win two in the tournament, and maybe three.

Auburn wasn't even in Lunardi's top 8 out. They will have to Saturday and probably win at least 2 in Tampa to get mentioned.

I could easily see the SEC getting only 3 teams.

Granted there are still games to be played but UK and Florida have done nothing to warrant an NCAA bid. Hell, even their SEC record sucks. If either go one and done in Atlanta then their chances are nil.

That would put their RPI in the top 60 easily and would give them a 9-3 finish in their last 12 games (2 SEC tournament wins would put them at 10-2 in their last 12 games). I think that'll be enough to get them a bid.

...they will not see much of a body on Auburn.

Best win was UT. After that the best wins are Ole Miss and State twice.
Lost to Florida.
Lost to Kentucky.
Lost to South Carolina.
Lost to LSU once with one to go.
Lost to Ole Miss once.
Lost to Dayton.
Lost to Xavier.

I just don't see a few more marginal wins outweighing all of that.

I don't know that 2 wins will boost their rpi that easily. It might happen but we are 30 games deep so wins don't have the impact they did. A 9-3 finish is something I hadn't thought of but that's against some unimpressive competition. They have no non-conference wins to hang their hat on.

If you look at many of the teams on the bubble, their resumes are far superior right now then Auburn's would be if they won those 2 games.

and then justify it later. Every year it seems to be a different thing that they weight more heavily. Sometimes it's non-conference schedule, sometimes it's last 12 games, sometimes it's signature wins, sometimes it's RPI, etc. etc. It just depends on what they look at. And I think they're going to take 4 SEC teams come hell or high water (even though they swear they don't even look at how few or many teams make the tournament from any conference) and Auburn's going to have the 4th best resume in the SEC if they beat LSU and win 1 in the SEC tournament (which would probably be Florida or Kentucky).

if Auburn is in the SEC Tourney championship game, which two wins would put them there, they are in.

I think they are a hot team and if they can reach double digit wins in the SEC paired with a win in Tampa then they are in. I think UK and Florida have some work to do. An 8-8 SEC record or a first round out in Tampa will send them straight to the NIT.

because they have looked ****** lately...but Auburn is playing well and has been for awhile...I am sure its been noticed by Slive and will get pointed out to everyone...I think they will play well in Tampa and not be left out

Lunardi is usually spot on. Why wouldn't you care what he said?

When he starts talking Auburn up, then I'll believe they can get in.

The East has been exposed as weak. If Auburn reaches 10-6 in the West then suddenly that 8-8 in the East does not look so good and it would make it tough for the committee to take Florida or UK over Auburn no matter what the RPI says.

its going to be tough to take any of those 3 over a team like Cincinatti that has 5 wins against the top 50 a better RPI than Auburn and KY and a nice SOS or a team like TX A&M who has a better resume than all 3.

Auburn has 9 wins in the SEC---8 are against State, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Georgia, and Alabama. That's not something that sneaks by the committee.

My goodness even we ran up a 6-2 record playing teams like that. Their "looking great" is a function of the schedule. Flip flop the schedule and they would have started 7-1ish and limped home at 2-5ish and everyone would be talking about how their bubble had burst. Again, if you look at the whole resume, there isn't much there. Kind of like yours.

Auburn (RPI ranking of 72) will not receive an at-large berth. If they do, something's really, really screwed up.

Carolina (RPI ranking of 41) should be the 3rd SEC team in, but if they lose to UT tonight, all bets are off since they finish up with UGA, a team whose finally decided to prove why they deserve to keep their scholarships. If SC loses tonight, I thimk they have to beat UGA and win 2 in the tourney to have a real shot. In the past, teams with SC's RPI ranking (and higher) have been left crying after Selection Sunday.

Florida (RPI ranking of 52) likely has to win the tourney.

sneaking a little funny in there at the end...

Auburn is playing well now as a team, its not a real product of the schedule...They are going to beat LSU this weekend and then probably win at least 1 game in Tampa....

If Auburn plays for the Tourney title, they are getting in.

SEC gets 4 teams for sure with possibly a 5th one...and Lunardi does a good job, but he missed a couple last year. He is not the end all
