Hard Rock is so bad. Got back from work wanting to place a small bet on PSU and the game is off their book.

Edit: Now it's back, as well as Bama/UGA.

5-9 for the week ... is that good?

Holy hell ... my performance was like Kotelnicki's offense for the first 3 quarters last night.

Maryland covers at USC bringing the B10 ATS record to 1-2 for teams traveling 2+ time zones.

Stanford does not cover at UVA brining the ACC ATS record to 0-2.

This week - USC at Illinois, Ohio State at UW, Oregon at PSU, UCLA at NW, Cal at BC
Regressing to the mean?
B10 teams traveling 2+ time zones were 3-1 this week with USC the only loser.
Season record now 4-3 (since 2024, overall 11-19).

Cal covers so ACC was 1-0 bringing season record to 1-2,

Misleading box scores. Nothing crazy

GT - 30 pts, 411 yards at 4.8 ypp (-1 TO)
WF - 29 pts, 443 yards at 6.2 ypp
WF better

Hawaii - 44 pts, 535 yds at 6.9 ypp
AF - 35 pts, 494 yds at 10.5ypp (-1 TO)
AF outgained and beaten but you don't see 10+ ypp often

UCF - 20 pts, 402 yds at 6.8ypp (-2 TO)
K ST - 34 pts, 434 yds at 6.2 ypp
This game probably should have been closer. As usual, turnovers tell the story.

UCF's QB got hurt early. I know that played a part, but unsure how it equated with the TOs.

Lessons learned from live betting ping pong at $1-$22/bet and they just paid off...

Ping pong (to me) is all live betting. It's sort of like going to Jai Alai or the Dog Track in that rarely are you betting on the participants and your knowledge of them, but you're betting on the odds.

What I learned was that you look for a -350 guy before the match starts and hope he falls behind 4-1 in the first game and drops to -150. Then you bet him. If he doesn't, go look for another one.

I came home from work/bar stop and missed the start of the Dodgers game. I hadn't bet the Tigers game and had won a Yankees bet (1st 5 innings), and I knew the Dodgers ML was ridiculous, so I was content to sit it out.

I turn on the puter and the tv and see the Reds up 2-0 after 1 inning. I somehow caught Hard Rock at Dodgers ML -125 and just unloaded the entire balance on it. Probably the largest bet I've ever placed (much larger than my ping pong bets to say the least), and it happened in 2 seconds. 5 seconds later it was -145.

Thanks Dodgers. Though my Dad was a Giant, you just paid a good chunk of my quarterly HOA bill. So I'm good with you.

Ours was $1650 for the condo. That’s quarterly? That’s like 9k a freaking year.

I would be cautious about this approach. You have to have a really good idea what each run/game, etc is worth to the money line.
For example, the Dodgers were -135 on the run line pregame (that is a spread of -1.5 runs). An inning into the game, down 2 runs and that spread essentially becomes -2.5 to win the game. Depending on when you bet it, you also may have fewer innings to get those. Based on the pregame run line, I would have expected a better price than -125 when the Dodgers were down by 2. And anyone who bet it at say, -135 to -145 really didn't seem to get a good line at all.

I'm just happy it worked out. I wasn't down on the year, but struggling to stay above my initial stake. I saw what I thought was a good opportunity and grabbed it.
I am anxious to hear the answer to that question. Ours was $1650 for the condo in Myrtle Beach. It's one of the reasons we sold it.
Right around that number.

Being honest, there is no way that in-game ping pong would be beatable. The books are building models with results from tens of thousands of matches (and that's likely low), and have the advantage of placing ridiculous holds on the stuff. In the long run, playing it is simply giving them $.

Spend your time and $ on stuff that you actually could beat in the long run.

I'm live betting the 1st half results of the pre-football-game table tennis matchup between players from Sam Houston State and New Mexico St.

What are you looking at? I don't have a problem, you have a problem. I'm up for the year, I swears!

Oh, Rick…

Hard to believe an intellect like that would buy a boat, put it on land in a spot where he's not allowed to store it, and not be able to afford a car that could tow the boat from that spot and to the water.

If you are looking at Arizona St as a play, hopefully you've seen the news that Leavitt is out.

Good luck to sports bettors the next few weeks. I'll be gone on an epic Grand Canyon rafting trip for the next 3 weeks (@Tom McAndrew ).

Here is the weekly RAS pod. Erial must be busy getting prepped for college hoops.

ah yes, those floating barges that get in the way of my fellow whitewater kayakers all the time. 🤣 Have a blast. A trip through the Grand Canyon via the river is, indeed, epic. Make sure to go hiking to some of the falls. Kayak and raft trips usually stop at key spots for this, sometimes for lunch or for the night, and other times just to partake in the hikes. They’re well worth it.

Safe travels. Yesterday was actually the first time this year that I didn't watch and fire live, and lost a point of CLV on his top play...I debated whether to still play it since 44 isn't a great number to give away on a total, but did end up putting it in at u43.5(-105).

And it was the double whammy for me as the two things I really cap are college hoops and international soccer, and this weekend is loaded up with games (while college hoops prep is in full swing. Though I gained a little time back on Survivor pool prep (thanks to the Rams for laying an egg, and Demercado for making sure he looked cool while crossing the goal line...not that I'm bitter or anything).

Ooof. That Arizona game is up there with all time worst beats for survivor. Just brutal. The interception/fumble for a TD was unreal.
I know you and I have bitched about the ball drop before EZ thing before. I (likely) lost a bet on the Colts earlier this season when this happened. How do these guys continue to do this? That is one JoePa rule that I would bring back - hand the ball to the ref when you score a TD.

It just shocks me...such an easy thing that shouldn't even need to be coached.

I kinda felt for Gannon...sure, there is never a time where it's ok to put your hands on a player. But the fact that he didn't completely lose it on Demercado and unload much worse showed restraint.

We obviously live in different times than when we grew up. Last night I umped a 16u baseball game, home team was down 6 runs with 2 outs in the final inning, and kid hit a pop up between short and 3rd. Both kids went for it, and ball hit one glove and dropped...however, the batter was still standing in the box and they threw to 1st and got him. As the coach is yelling at him, he tells back "they should have caught it, and we weren't winning anyways". I remember one time in high school where a teammate talked back to a coach, and the whole team spent the next day running for about 45 minutes to teach us a lesson...would that even fly today, or would parents/players revolt for making them run as punishment for something that someone else on the team did (maybe that's a question for @Bison13)?

I was shocked when I heard the fine for Gannon. I didn't think it was that bad at all. I can see a $10k fine to make a point.

Cardinal F'in sin not running out a pop up! Coach should have taken him to the side after that and said never talk back to me again and always run out every hit - period. I hate coaches that constantly yell, but sometimes you have to lay down the law.

I drew the short straw and got put in the groover boat 🤷‍♂️

ugh.

I packed really light on my trip -- so light that while it would have made my kayak a tad less responsive, I could have carried my gear in my kayak in waterproof bags. I'm glad I didn't have to carry my food, but I could have if I had too. But as for the waste, I would have drawn the line and not gone on the trip if I had to carry that (even if just my own) in my kayak.

FWIW, I've heard the current groovers are better than what we used. If I recall correctly, we had former military gear boxes, which were double or triple lined with heavy duty plastic bags.

Very unlikely that would be allowed today in most areas. I’ve seen some though where the majority of the parents would actually hope that their coach did those kind of old school things. I would say that here in Maryland if you want to force your team to run as punishment, you have to disguise it as base running practice. I. E. Today we will practice running in the park home runs for the next half hour.
