Guess I'll investigate Direct TV. One more time. Probably cost me even more but it's the principle of the thing.

It's so funny that Texas respects Mississippi state fans more than Mississippi

We've had all the SEC channels since August. And they try to make sure Mississippi State football is on. Guess the State of Mississippi hates Mississippi State.

Looking back on it direct tv should have said screw you to espn and went without the sec network. No one had any idea the network would be this bad. I have watched maybe two hours of it since it launched

And beyond that, the SEC Storied stuff is awesome. It's just SEC Nation, SEC Now and Finebaum that suck, and Jesus, everybody should have known Finebaum would be terrible.

Exactly. 95% of what's on ESPN sucks except for the games I want to watch. Everything else for any sports channel is just filler anyway.

SwampDawg, how much was it before and what are they asking you to pay now? My aunt lives down there and called me asking about the same thing.

Can't speak for what you're paying for Cable One, but it's always been my experience that any folks complaining about DirectTV costs have never taken the time to pick up the phone and call them. Yes... their discounts are almost always for a limited time, but once/yr I give them a call to tell them what ATT, Comcast, etc are offering, and once/year they make it right.

I've got about $70 in total discounts now, and the guy from last year even told me about this one. Even if you already have another internet service that you're happy with, go ahead and tell the Direct service rep that you want to go with one of their internet partners. They'll automatically apply an endless $15/month bundle discount to your account, and then when the sales guy for the internet company calls you to set it up, just tell him that you've changed your mind. You'll end up not changing a thing, but the discount will remain.

Anyway, it takes about 20 minutes each year but ultimately, I'll end up with one of the better tiers of channels, Sunday Ticket, and HBO for ~ $60/month. If anyone can beat that, more power to them, but I don't think that anyone else offers Sunday Ticket so it's a moot point for me

After Hurricane Katrina in the Jackson area many fast food restaurants charged a surcharge for tomatoes...because they correctly determined that the public would accept it. I know first hand there was no shortage of tomatoes.

We are paying about $140/month for digital cable, HD box and internet. I haven't seen the bill but if they are going up for SEC Network, 17 them. They already lost 9-10 channels - not that I watch MTV or VH1, but it's the principle - with no reduction in rates. They also gave us a discount when they lost TBS and TNT during the MLB playoffs last year of a whopping $2.

However, my general opinion is that all cable companies suck and you'll never be happy with what you have for long.

ETA - that's cable one in Ocean Springs.

Paying 68.59 now and it will go up just 2.94. I was tailgating at MSU when the monsoon hit, and it blacked out the Direct signal in the RV where I was. That's the only thing that has kept me from changing until now.

SEC in 60 and Film Room are better than 90% of all other programming on television. The SEC Storied documentaries have also been good.

It used to be that way for me, but about 2 years ago it just quit working. i don't know if it was just bad luck, change in company policy, or if i'd just been a customer for so long that they figured i wasn't going anywhere, but i'm now paying $120 a month for choice plus HBO and fees. i've been meaning to switch to Cable One for months now, just never gotten around to it.
