Give him credit for staying the hell away from Kentucky basketball.

Just look at how he "helps" us sitting on the tournament committee.

Cal should get to pick his successor along with input from Mike Pratt. No way in Hades should Mitch get another crack at hiring a UK basketball coach.

Some fans are just pepetually outraged for no reason. How insane to think that your AD should help your seeding by just being on the committee. We got the seed we deserved. Arizona got the seed they deserved. Sucks we might have to play them. But oh well. Let's win against Davidson and go from there.

Sure Mitch has to "recuse" himself when the actual vote on UK is done. But the backroom deals, under the table "agreements" with others on the committee is where the real seeding occurs. And Mitch doesn't strike me as a backroom dealer. More of a go-by-the-rules guy. Which is fine. But when others are playing the "you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours" game, UK gets well, what we've been getting.

The fact that Mitch came away from the committee last year and said they did a good job and we got a fair draw tells me all I need to know about Mitch as if hiring Billy G, Joker, and talking down to the BBN didnt already.

In 2016, Mitch publicly called out the selection committee and was then asked to be a participant. Has our draws improved? Has the process improved? If anything, theyve been as bad if not worse. Its nothing more for him than just another resume addition and accolade to hang his hat on.

If ANY of those people in that room gave one ish about the student athlete, one ish about being fair, they would all be kicking, screaming, and refusing to give UNC anything for the 20 yrs of cheating theyve got away with. But an easy path 2 seed?! With 10 losses?! GMAFB

Btw , how much $$ did the NCAA make last year?

Mitch should know the teams that UK is likely to face and push for them in other regions when he is in the room. The he’s never in the room bs doesn’t fly

Results, man results. Not just this year, either. And the corruption that is the NCAA. And human nature: take care of our own. And, well, it goes on and on. You naive to think that pUKe and uncheat's draws and seeds happen by accident? By honest interaction on the part of committee members? If you believe that, I've got some beachfront property in BOISE, IDAHO I'd like to sell you. Or DESMOINES, IOWA.

I would at this point just not rather have him on the committee. I would argue this year and last year were UK's toughest draws in the Cal era. So while I don't expect his presence on the committee to help us, I sure never expected it to hurt us but it seems that way.

Mitch just doesn't have the personality or the strength to inspire, intimidate, or lead. Sure, he leaves the room when Kentucky is discussed. But before he leaves the room he needs to make it clear that he would consider it a personal affront, with consequences, if the Cats get reamed yet again. And when he comes back he needs to say, "Hold it fellas. I let this go in 2011 and 2014 and 2015 and 2016 and last year when we drew a wildly mis-seeded Wichita State in the round of 32 and the most productive offense in the country and a team that beat us at home in the round of 16 and the toughest team in the country in the round of 8. But it's time Kentucky got some consideration. Here is what I want."

Instead, I picture him sitting there with that goofy grin, desperate to be liked and treated like one of the guys, so he lets it all go down in a way that paints him as a clown.

Mitch does have to leave room but he has done nothing to help us with the opponents.
How does anyone know that? Not one single person bitching about MB on this board knows anything about what goes on with MB but there's a lot that have answers. Haha
That's one of those things where people ***** but don't think how bad it could of been because they don't see what's actually been done.

It's literally one of the rules of the committee. Why would we assume they break the rules and allow Mitch to be there when UK is brought up?

Blaming Mitch for our tournament draws is one of the dumbest things I've ever seen here and that's saying a ******* lot

It's true that Mitch has to leave the room but that doesn't mean he can't put a glass up next to the wall and listen in on the conversation. Come on Mitch, be innovative!

All this is silly speculation. We don't know what impact Mitch has, if any. Without him maybe we get a 6 seed. Maybe he did a ton for us and we still got screwed? Maybe he made a lot of backroom deals and they all bailed on them? What's he supposed to do? Call them out publicly for not helping his team? That would make us look bad and label us as cheaters in the eyes of many. We can play the maybe game all day, but we don't know. Mitch has some black marks on his record but this really isn't one we can definitively add to that list.

Mitch should have been a dancer on the Lawrence Welk Show.

Goodnight, sleep tight and pleasant dreams to you.

EVEN if not on committee where is he when we get screwed?? Where?? He says nothing. The Benny snell issue is the first I can remember. He doesn’t advocate he lets fans do his work. I started my rant when someone said “everyone email the SEc about moving the final to Saturday” and thought that’s Barney’s job! He doesn’t do it. He knows how his coach feels and he does nothing. Like I said 16 years is too long, hes an AD not a Supreme Court judge he should move on for personal development reasons but he doesn’t bc there is no pressure on him. All the coaches get the heat but bRney hire joker hire bcg 2 of the worst all time. Scared to fire tubby, let’s his hoops team get screw time and time again. Cal is a fighter we need an AD who is a fighter

How often does Barney come out and publicly show support for his programs when officiating was terrible, a bad seed, etc??? One I can think of with snell and it was weak

This is so ridiculous.

Why do people not get that any person on the committee associated with a school is not allowed to even discuss their school? He's not in the room when UK is discussed and there is no point where he is even allowed to bring UK up.

Why is this so hard to understand?

Was Mitch in the room when they discussed the seeding of Texas Tech getting a #3 seed? They were the overall #10 seed in the tournament and gets to play in Dallas! They didn't win either the Big12 regular season or tournament. There isn't one poll (AP, Coaches, RPI) ranking Texas Tech in the top 12 teams in the country and their RPI is #32 while their SOS is #25! Texas Tech has also lost 5 of last 7 games to finish the season.
