UNC has plenty of available NIL money to throw at Wilson.
They will lose their two highest NIL guys in RJ and Jackson and they don't currently have commitments from anyone who will demand a high NIL payment.
That's why UNC is still alive in the Dybanasta sweepstakes.

You would think it's about more than just top dollar for Caleb. You would think he would want to be surrounded by talent and have a chance to realistically win it all as well. He would have that at UK. For UNC, the cupboard looks pretty bare and they have struggled this season. If Dybantsa commits to UNC before his decision then, sure, perhaps that makes UNC more of a possibility. For now, I like our chances.

With UK taking down Duke & Gonzaga he has to like the way we are playing. UNC does not look that great right now.
UNC is a 21 point comeback from being 4-5. They barely beat a horrible GA Tech team at home by 3 and was tied at 69 with 6 1/2 minutes to go with Elon at home. They suck and if they played in a decent league would end up being .500 this year.

I don't like the fact that it's dragging out.
The sooner he commits the better I like UK's chances.
Why ? it has always been his plan. See what all of the teams look like, then announce a top 2, then commit late December, early January. he is not on our timeline, he is making a decision best for HIM, not us fans of the teams he is interested in playing for.

I'm just saying that IMO a Jan. commit bodes better for UK than an April commit.
All your points while valid are just player speak.
" Best for him" could mean 100 different things.
IMO, the longer it goes the more he's shopping.

He was never signing in April. He just very recently said late December, early January. He will name a top 2 first. (UK / UNC)

If you heard his ksr interview, he’s doing exactly what he said he would do. He had visited the schools he was interested in and wanted to watch how the coaches “coached their players “. Bodes well for us I think. He’s not dragging anything out.

No doubt that Pope couldn't have dreamed of creating more positive buzz than he has so far.
Seems like we have all the momentum going for us.
If we're not the pick I'll assume it's for non basketball reasons.

I would think so about your first 2 statements. I believe North Carolina is our biggest competitor. He seems to be really high on Hubert Davis (hell if I know ,lol) and has visited several times including unofficial visits to watch them practice. “Supposedly “ the North Carolina NIL situation is crap .

Maybe I'm just paranoid about UNC.
Hell it's 20 years later and I still can't believe we lost Brandin Wright to UNC.

This NIL has gotten way out of hand. Should have been a cap put on it when it first came out. I know a lot will not agree with this but it is running all sports, + letting kids transfer every year. JMO

If recruits don't understand the positive and teaching coaching style to get better, the Kentucky program, BBN and the once in a lifetime experience then f'em. We need the right personalities as well as talent. Kentucky and Pope clearly are now the place to be so I hope he comes. If not, there will be someone either in the transfer portal, or elsewhere. Pope's system doesn't live and die by having number one recruiting classes like someone else. Plus even the most talented Freshman have a learning curve. Ask Cooper Flagg on his spin move!

He is really starting to mature physically. That opening shot of him has much more muscle definition than highlights used to show. I always pictured him in the 190s weight wise but he definitely could be in the low 200s by now. If we can get him, and get him to 225 he'd be a nightmare.

This is why I think whoever takes Dysbantia will be disappointed. He has made it clear. All he cares about is money. Those guys usually don’t pan out as freshman.

I haven't watched him extensively, but not sure I totally buy the Dybantsa hype. Ball dominant offensive player. Makes wow physical plays but I've questioned his effort in some of the games i've seen. I see 5* talent, but I haven't seen sure thing #1 player future franchise cornerstone which is what he's being hailed as.

Caleb Wilson at 1/5 of the price is a better bet from what I've seen imo

Have not read much on Dybantsa, is he still in the running for UNC? I thought I read something about BYU for him.
I know that any of these high ranked high schoolers are going to and should consider NIL as an important factor. But to me Dybantsa seems to be the guy making a decision STRICTLY on one-year NIL dollars. My impression is that a team's chances of winning a championship or post-playing days opportunities do not factor in for him. He intends to spend as little time as possible at his college stop over.
