If one of those guys had been injured during that time, Mullen also would have been criticized. Having said that, since it was LSU, it definitely would have been fine in my book to leave them in. However, the game was or should have been over and one of the jobs of your second teamers is normally to finish out such games.
Mullen made a huge mistake when he took the starting OL & Josh Robinson out of the game when we were inside the 20 and about to go up 41-10. He tried to coast through the last 6 minutes of the game and you just can't do that against a team like LSU. I think he's learned his lesson and I'm just glad he learned it in a win and not a loss.
I was looking for somebody to PAY for all the unnecessary pain and suffering I had to endure at the end of that game. I slowly calmed down and was able to enjoy the win. But had the worst happened, I think I too would have had the same attitude of don't bother boarding the plane. A calmer head would have prevailed though and the correct response would be zero tolerance for a repeat performance in the future.
I must however give Coach Dan Mullen full credit for building the program to the point of even having the ability to compete like that and for having the team ready to play. It is safe to say we would not even be in a position to get mad about nearly blowing a win in DV without Dan Mullen and he deserves that accolade and then some. I do trust it has finally sunk in that very few leads are safe in the SEC and is now and even BETTER game manager.
