I wonder if it will hurt their service. I noticed recently lots of high schools haven't had updated the calpreps profiles a week ago. They now charge on page views per day - 5 per day is $15, 20 per day is $40 and unlimited is $140 a season.

It will be interesting to see if the new model will work. There is no doubt the service has a lot of unique characteristics. It appears they have made a break from MaxPreps and that Maxpreps has created their own computer-generated rating system. Maybe I am wrong and MaxPreps is now not disclosing the relationship.

I know of no other service that does the online trolling for nationwide high school football scores and other scheduling adjustments that hsratings does - at least to the same level.

I used it a lot in pick'ems since I don't follow football all that closely... It was quite helpful.

Too bad they screwed the pooch... Took it off my bookmarks after looking it over for a few seconds.

It's rather frustrating to see. I get it man hours and such, but it was such a helpful tool when comparing teams/schedules etc.. I'm wondering if PALBooster will be able to keep providing us with awesome projections like he does year after year! I'm sure CCS Relies or utilizes those rankings when seeding or deciding who makes the top 40!

The irony for me is that now I will be visiting Maxpreps more frequently.

This is a case where they'd attract more flies with honey than vinegar. At $10/month with unlimited access, they might be able to get enough people to keep the lights on. With this current system, I see them ending the site before the end of the season.

It's a shame.

That was my thought. A monthly fee or a season pass would be pretty popular for caoches/media/fans. The pay by page is a hard entry point especially given the navigation to get around the site.

I'm wondering how it will impact their team profiles. Coaches will have to be able to submit their player profiles and it requires access. The early ratings might also not make much sense. I guess over time it means little but seems the value isn't as good.
