I've been aware of the Alabama casino conspiracy indictments long prior to reading about them on a blog site. There is no doubt that they exist and have significance for the named parties.<div>
</div><div>Relative to that, during the last 8 to 12 months there is no doubt that individuals named in the indictment and others have had their phones tapped. There isn't any argument that individuals were wearing wires for the Feds. You can also bet that the Feds have monitored all of the bank accounts, credit card accounts, etc., that belong to the named individuals. </div><div>
</div><div>I've experienced the perspective that I think Mr. Bond is experiencing. That of a voluntary interview. First, the FBI will inform Mr. Bond that he is entitled to an attorney. Mr. Bond has retained Mr. Abernathy, so I assume that he has that covered. The second thing the FBI will inform Mr. Bond is a glimpse of what they're investigating - they may not shed the full light on this, however. They will also likely state to Mr. Bond whether he is a target of the investigation, or whether they consider him as simply a witness to the events involved in the investigation.</div><div>
</div><div>They may inform Mr. Bond that they have already combed through his personal and business checking and credit card information for forensic evidence. Whether they inform him or not, you can bet they already have combed all.</div><div>
</div><div>Then they will tell Mr. Bond that they're going to ask him a series of questions (on video), and they know the answers to some of the questions, and they don't know the answers to some of the questions. Yet, Mr. Bond won't know which they know the answer to and which they don't. They will also remind Mr. Bond that it's a Federal felony to lie to the FBI. They may have transcript of phone calls or voice recordings that they ask Mr. Bond questions about. They may not.</div><div>
</div><div>And at the conclusion of the interview, they will likely say what I said on an earlier post: We are conducting a Federal investigation into a number of things. You may speak to whomever you wish, but understand that if your statements jeopardize the integrity of our investigation, then you will open yourself up to obstruction of justice charges. </div><div>
</div><div>If Mr. Bond is considered a material witness to any eventual attempt at Federal charges, then the Feds will stay in touch with him and his attorney and prep him prior to the convening of a Federal Grand Jury.</div><div>
</div><div>The Feds don't hold press conferences in the middle of investigations. They leak information to the press that they want to leak. They correct misinformation with the press, as it needs corrected. </div><div>
</div><div>All that said, my original point is that I'm open to the possibility that McGregor and his criminal web had the Cam Newton fly trapped in the corner of it. But at this juncture, I'm not yet certain of that, as some of you are. For there is also the possibility that any alleged pay-for-play issue with Cam Newton was outside the conspiracy circle that was involved in the existing casino conspiracy indictments...and the Feds who are interested in investigating where Federal laws may have been broken are limiting their investigation to the matters involving agents steering players to schools for cash, only.</div><div>
</div><div>If it's more, I'd be pleased. I'm just not convinced it is, yet.</div>
