look like a decent team when we play anyone from the East and look like crap when we play anyone from the West (minus Arkansas)? Conventional wisdom says the East is actually stronger.

and since we always play up to, or consequently down to the level of our opponent, it only stands to reason that we bow up to the "better" East teams, and have a disturbing propensity to mail it in against the lowly West opponents. And clearly, the poison can not be in my own glass.

I think the sports writers are influencing opinions...but not completely fact. The West can compete, we just look ugly.
