It's used on another board as a dig at OM but I don't get it. I heard some douche nugget student saying it repeatedly at the dawg walk and other than annoying the dickens out of me, he sounded like an idiot. I know he's doing it because its cool since no one gets it but 17 it gets on my nerves. Yes, I'm strangely upset at something that I do not even understand the meaning of.

It's a parody of Hotty Toddy. Not a good parody and not a funny parody, but that's what it is.

I think the bigger question is can anyone explain Hotty Toddy?

It's a verbless, profanity laced rant chanted in unison by a bunch of drunks to honor an effeminate, alcoholic drink.

It's from the proper "Hoity Toity" and I **** you not, this is taken directly from Merriam-Webster dictionary

[h=2][SUP]2[/SUP]hoity–toity[/h] adjective : having or showing the insulting attitude of people who think that they are better, smarter, or more important than other people

Should be, but probably stolen from

this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Highty-Tighties#Name_origin

'...However, history states that the name came from a cheer that was invented when the band was housed in Division E, the fifth stairwell of Lane Hall. While waiting for meals, each unit would give up a cheer. The bandsmen were tired of not having a name, and made up a cheer that went: "Highty Tighty, Christ Almighty, who the hell are we? Riff ramm, *******, we're from Division E." '

Damn, do they have a single tradition they didn't steal from another school aside from waving Rebel flags and putting nooses on statues?

Yep. The bears most original traditon ripped off the VT reg band...

Hoity-Toity to Highty-Tighty to Hotty Toddy. Well, they did clean it up...a little. Its still profane but at least it isn't blasphemous.

Is riff ram the same as riff raff? If so, was it originally a rebuttal to a incorrect image of flashy egotism? Am I misinterpreting this or are they? In zero of my encounters with UM fans have they done anything but propagate their 'hoity-toity' image.

I don't care where "Hotty Toddy" came from. It sounds feminine and is the furthest thing from cool as possible, and it's disturbing coming from grown men.
