Is there anything backing this up other than "potential"? If you look at his stats 14 of 17 of his passing tds came against Montana, UK, Cincy, Vandy, and Buffalo. The year before 16 of 18 passing tds came against memphis, OM, Vandy, UK, and UNC.

That his freshmen year they were terrible until they brought him in the game with 5 game left, and he took them to a bowl game. If we had a guy come off the bench and win 5 straight we too would be going crazy. I believe he won 5 straight to end his freshmen year. #toolazytoresearch

But Tennessee usually goes on a winning streak in November because their schedule is so terrible. The 4 teams Bray beat to end that season were:

at Memphis- 1-11
Mississippi - 4-8
at Vandy - 2-10
Kentucky - 6-7

Ummm, he also missed 5 games last year. 1900+ yards and 17 TDs in 7 games. That included 4 SEC opponents. Playing for a terrible team, those are still some pretty sick numbers.

I too have never understood the hype. He's good a great frame and seems like he has good mechanics, but every media guru and their mother flat out said that Tennessee has the best duo of receivers in the SEC last week, maybe even the country. I can't help but feel that Wes Carroll would have hit 17 TD's with them.

It's UT. Anyone they put on the field is going to get attention. It's hard to grasp that because they've been more or less irrelevant* since I've started following college football (*even the year they went to the SEC championship last they were overshadowed by UGA).

He reminds me of the Cincinnati QB Pike. He's got every indication he'll be a good NFL QB but he'll end up on someone's bench.

has size, big arm, accurate

He will be in the top 2 of the SEC in passing this season. Why wouldnt he get hype?

Hell, you're hyped over Russell's TD passes vs UAB....look at Russell's stats vs SC and UPig if you want to nitpick

Yes. I watched him play football on television as a freshman and he was better than any qb we had had in a while. Then I watched him play football on television the next season and he looked better but got hurt. He is a gunslinger and has tons of potential. If he can manage the game more, he'll be good. With two years under his belt, he should have a really solid year, especially considering that he has the best tag team receivers in the conference. Pretty simple to me.

Would you like to go on record and say he wont be a high round draft pick?

He is not the 'brightest' bulb on the tree ...

According to John Adams of the Knoxville (Tenn.) News Sentinel, Bray and former video department employee Michael Grandinetti are accused of throwing golf balls and beer bottles onto parked cars from the balcony of an apartment complex.

that preseason draft rankings were meaningless. No, I dont think he'll be a first round pick this season.

Where did Coach say he would be a first round pick? He said high round pick, which is where many publications have him listed. Some have him ahead of Landry Jones and Geno Smith and some don't. But he's generally listed as a 1st or 2nd round pick.

Mechanically, he's got the height and the arm but he's skinny as a toothpick, and somewhat because of that(as well as Tennessee's other problems) he hasn't translated well to the tougher SEC opponents, most of which he missed last year. With Hunter and Da'Rick back, along with them acquiring a very good Juco WR(Patterson I believe) Bray should be able to put up some big numbers provided his O-Line can keep him standing. That being said, with the frailty of Bray, Hunter coming back off of injury, Da'Rick being a headcase(I believe he once came to practice wearing a Cal Bears shirt and has gotten himself into trouble more then once), and their O-Line and running game being crap last year it'll be interesting to see if they can pull it all together.
