Can we fill our new renovation?

I know we have all these consistent "sell-outs" but when you look at the stadium as a whole, it always seems like there are empty sections in the top corners. With the added seats, will we continue to be able to fill the entire stadium on a consistent basis? Even when we play lower class teams?

If State is winning, we can fill an 80,000 seat stadium much less 60,000. If the constant losing to quality opponents continues, we will keep averaging 40,000 "sell outs" no matter how nice our facilities are. Wins cure everything.

Regardless it had to be built

But no. NOt until we win more often. Or there is some economic boom in the GTR that leads to an influx of people to the area and retention of MSU grads.

Anyway, I am thinking that most of the people that are going to use the new skyboxes are already in the stadium somewhere. So, the general seating plus the skyboxes will move some people around and create openings elsewhere. I got a feeling a westside ticket will become easy to obtain. Also, I see that student section in the east upper deck always being empty with the expanded endzone seat option.

But it had to built to raise revenue and keep up in recruiting. It would be a huge improvement to the stadium.

Aside from night and cloudy day games, getting sunburned in the upperdeck is pretty lousy. They aren't bad seats, it's just too darn hot to sit up there!

The corners you see that are normally empty are the east upper deck student section and the visitors section. So yes, as long as we are selling out of season tickets, we will be able to fill it.

In order to make the stadium look completely full, one of two things need to happen:

1. Reduce student tickets and sell more season tickets

2. Move all student tickets to the lower bowl. The truth is that 11,000 students are coming to the game, but they are cramming themselves into the lower bowl. There are more students down there than seats. Students don't want to go to the upper deck under any circumstances.

Therefore, the number or student tickets must be reduced, and/or, all students are moved to the lower bowl.

Back when I was a student, and you could still get student guest tickets, the upper deck was where I would sit if my dad came with me to a game. No way was he gonna stand all game in the lower bowl with his bad back. I saw mostly other students with parents up there, and older married students who would rather sit and not have beer thrown on them during the game. Not sure who usually sits there now since they don't do student guest tickets anymore...

If you look closely, most "sell outs" of almost all schools on television, including Alabama, have empty seats. Most of them are in the corners of the upper decks, just like ours. They probably sell the tickets, but have a bunch of no-shows.

That's not true when it's a major game, and also true at DWS. The past few years they've had to bring in folding chairs and put them between the bleachers and Club on the east side, and it looked like there was some of the same on the west side too.
