I have been a pretty big supporter of Coach Flood, but right now I have only a few toes left on the fence. It hasn't been the arrests, the bad NJ recruiting,or the emails to the teacher. What really has bothered me was the "I will meet you in Princeton dressed in regular clothes " comment. That being said, I still think the guy has been looking out for his players with their best interests at heart. IF Rutgers were to fire him, I doubt he will ever get a head coaching job at a 1-A school again. We REALLY need to keep the recruiting class together (especially Anthony Russo). Can you see Rutgers offering him some type of position (new or created) within the Athletic Department--fundraising,marketing, Czar of Football Enterprisises, etc. ? Maybe a new coach would keep him on staff (unusual, but I think it has happened). He might go for it and it MIGHT keep the recruits.

If he's gone, he should be gone period.

To answer I'd have to believe having him at any position other than HC wouldn't have any positive result with recruits. Why the heck would it?

I think this depends on Kyle. You are right that this is likely his last P5 coaching job but I think he'd be great in the FCS ranks at a Lehigh or Delaware. Or, does he love Rutgers Athletics so much that he'd voluntary transition into a different role within the department to make room for a new regime? Depends on his career goals/aspirations and of course is pride/ego. Since he's still 7 games over .500 i could see him feeling RU was railroading him if not for the off the field stuff which I'm with you...totally changed my perception of him. Still think he's a great guy and a good football mind but maybe this particular job is too big for him. He shouldn't feel bad if he eventually gets let go...I think Greg was the only RU football coach in the past 40 years to leave on his own terms and that includes the late, great Frank Burns.

Why? Because he might be a "good guy"? I understand some still liking him, for THIS reason, but com'on if you make a break you just gotta make it clean IMHO.

I don't think he should be retained if there is a change....but I could see Rutgers doing something completely insane (this being Rutgers) and putting him in charge of compliance and academic advising....you know given his track record.

AYR,
I am scared to death that if Flood is completely gone, the recruits will scatter to the wind (especially Russo). We will be left with kids that would have gone to Temple,Buffalo,Old Dominion, etc.

whether KF is here or not 2016 is a lost season. if he stays, i don't think he can get it done. if he goes, the new HC is going to want to strip the team to make sure that all of the cancer is gone before he rebuilds.

Didn't we have this thread like 5 days ago? Down to the same exact replies?

Is this like a Yogi deja vu thing?

Also, there are about 5-6 legit B10 recruits in this class.

No matter what the upside of any of them, not enough to keep Flood for that reason alone.

Holding a far superior recruiting class together got us Flood in the first place.

No one recruit or one recruiting class is bigger than the program. Get the right coach hired and we will take off from there.

You mean like the majority of our last 3 classes?

For what it's worth, using history as a guide, some of these verbals aren't gonna make it here anyway. A bunch of them probably don't have other actionable B10 offers. So who are we REALLY talking about?

Russo
Pollack
Krimins
Rene

This handful look the part and will have plenty of options. But they aren't enough to retain Flood on that reason alone. Let a new staff re-recruit them if need be.

Dumb thread. Let's give out jobs to everyone cuz they're "nice guys"... ridiculous. Not how the world works.

You also need to remember. IF a new coaching staff is hired, they will have the ear of some recruits that currently aren't considering us. Provided the AD hires someone good and gives them enough time, you may actually see an upgrade to the class.

At this rate a quarter of the class will transfer out due to getting beaten on the depth chart and another quarter will leave the team due to violations and arrests before they finish out their careers on the banks...

The man wasn't looking out for the best interests of the student athletes when he went to Princeton trying to get the grade change - he was trying to save his own *** and had to try get Barnwell eligible out of sheer desperation. Let him go and find a job as a HS Gym Teacher somewhere.

I'm sure Greg can find a spot for Kyle. O'Line coach again or assistant head coach.

Russo is not worth saving this clown even if we kept flood as the waterboy... Haskins wouldn't even be worth that

Kyle as Co- Athletic Director, or even Schiano's O line/ Asst HC. And possibly even Head of Compliance to make the Ledgers head explode.

Make Flood head of compliance, better yet bring on him and Towers.

What QB is going to come here with Laviano the QB for life now.

This sounds familiar ... and how'd it work out? Isn't an all-around improvement in recruiting a big selling point of hiring a new coach?

Anyway, who sticks around as an assistant after getting canned as head coach? Him being willing to do that would be yet another reason why he should be completely fired.

This is easy. I'm so sick of all of this "I'll stay for Coach Flood," "He cares about his players," "He's a nice guy," "The recruiting class will fall apart," etc.

While I respect the favorable relationship and loyalty he has cultivated, In the words of Ronald Reagan: "We don't negotiate with terrorists."

That goes for the recruits, Hamilton, etc. We're in the B1G, we've seen what the JV looks like, time to become a varsity team and get to the point where we can contend in this conf in 7-10 years. If not, what the hell are we dong here?

Oh yeah, and bring back the uniforms we wore Saturday immediately and permanently.

Hiring Flood to save a recuriting class is what got us into this horrible mess in the 1st place! Learn from your mistakes please!

We need a clean break. My only fear is that it won't happen this year.
