that this turned out to be a pretty decent signing class? Even with midget Favre, I like what we've got. We filled some major needs at OL and WR. Carr is going to be really good if he gets qualified. Signing both Robinson and Day was big. And as for midget Favre, it was a situation where you have to sign the Gatorade PotY if you're really serious about keeping the best players in state and coming to MState. Granted, I don't think he should ever play a down unless he's holding for field goals and extra points, but that's a different story. Plus, a Favre on the team gives us at least a little free publicity, which is something we need. And hopefully it will lead to a nice donation from Uncle Favre. So there are at least positives to be had off the field by signing midget Favre. Still, I think this is a nice second class for Mullen & Co, considering we were the only SEC school other than Vandy to not play in a bowl this season and Mississippi is coming off their 2nd straight Cotton Bowl victory. If we can get to a bowl next season, look out.

We had to take chances on 5 or so players, which is too many in my book. As for Downtown Dawg's comment about what UM did, as I responded on NAFOOM, our class is not that far behind them really. They signed 7 4-stars to our 5 and we both signed 15 3-stars. Our class is rated lower because of the 5 2-stars we signed. If we'd only signed 20 players,oursigning class would have been ranked in thetop 25.</p>

I wasn't expecting that. I was hoping top 25-30. Mullen screwed the pooch, but salvaged it some with the OL class. It is what it is.

seriously man... stfu. you have been beating this dead horse way too long. did UM have a better class as far as star-prospects go? yes, of course they did - they just won back-to-back cotton bowl trophies. We have 1 winning season in the last decade. Dan has thing moving in the right direction and we'll be better next year because he's filling needs with this class (and adding speed). When we bring home bowl trophies the class rankings will pick-up. Last year was an exception for us recruiting - don't forget we redshirted a lot of the talent in that class too.

</div>I'm not sure I understand your hatred for Dylan. It's a kid that worked his tail off to get a D-1 scholarship. He looked great in the O-D All-Star game with bigger linemen. but still not up to par with what I expected from Mullen and staff. I do think its a slight cut above an average Croom class. I guess I just have to realize how poor our image has gotten outside the state over the final Sherrill years and Croom years. Its going to take some winning to change that and NOBODY outside MSU cares that we had a tough schedule. Its pretty much just show me the record and the bowl games.

Probably the most disappointing aspect is all the near misses with guys like Newton, Brunetti, Humphrey, Thompson and Neal among others. A winning season or two is DEFINITELY going to help us with these out of state guys that we end up battling other BCS programs for.

Will edit to say that I do believe the coaching staff we have now is so much better than Croom's staff that it won't take NEARLY as much talent for Mullen to win as it would have Croom. I have no doubt that Mullen and staff will get the most out of whatever we do have. I also agree that I very much like the size of the guys in this class.

Croom didn't sign anybody in last year's class. Even though we had commits, Mullen had to come in and hang onto those guys. Not to mention the fact he adds th elikes of Bumphis, Heavens, and Perkins who wouldn't even look at us until Mullen came.

I like the OL signees too but it is my understanding that next year is going to be a <span class="Apple-style-span" style="text-decoration: underline;">very</span>good year for OL in Mississippi. I guess you can never have too many but it seems like we'll be pretty full with young guys heading into next year and that might hurt us with those 2011 prospects.

If you're a true Dawg fan and haven't learned to be patient yet then I feel for you. We have a decent recruiting class, and just like everyone else is saying UM has back to back Cotton Bowl appearances and you can never forget USM is always pulling at the coat tails for recruits. We've got some big bodies in this class. Some of the best players in the nation were walk-ons and 1 and 2 stars to begin with. So let the strength coach, and head coach do their jobs and give it some time. If you don't think Mullen has done a good job with what he was handed then take your blinders off and look around.

I'm glad we gave him a scholarship and hope he turns out to be good. He seemed like he had some pretty damn good talent every time I watched him play. Yes, he's on the short side, but so was Flutie and Brees and they seemed to play pretty good. I refuse to see him as Tyson 2.0 just because of his height. It was well worth the scholarship to see.

I think Mullen has done a good job so far ... he is in a learning curve as a new HC and will continue to improve ..... as far as Farve .... I think everyone is gun shy about short quarterbacks because of Lee ..... farve had decent numbers and a pretty good arm . Why wont you Farve bashers give him a break and see how he does in a couple of years ... these guys read this site and no telling how many this board has had an effect on. I would rather have a kid with some heart that wanted to play for us than I would some other chump who thinks he is a blessing for state

as a QB prospect. However he is the best we could do and he wanted to come be a part of our program. He`s (by all accounts) a good kid with a good head on his shoulders. He`s had trememdous success highschool even though he`s undersized. I was as ready as anyone for Lee to be gone but even his performance didn`t convince me that all QB`s less than 6 feet tall are bad QB`s.

What you and a bunch of others need to come to grips with is that our coaching staff laid a big ole egg in recruiting QB`s this year and you`re taking it out on a young man who wants to be here and though you may not think so brings a bunch to the table.

Dylan is ours .Dylan is the best we could do.Dylan will put out every thing he`s got to contribute to our football program even if he never walks on the field.For ANY MSU FAN to continue to critisize him at this point does nothing but make us look bad especially considering our recent glorious football history.

Well I hope Uncle Favre doesn't somehow see this post. You know if I was a millionaire, and I had a lot of money to donate to my nephew's college football program, I might get offended with fans calling my nephew midget Favre and saying I hope he doesn't ever see the field unless he's holding field goals and extra points when the fact is the kid hasn't even stepped on the practice field.
