With Minny coming up again, a flashback to a DISTANT memory. Almost forgot how bad things were..... or maybe it was because I couldn't bear to even look at the train wreck.

They did beat Minnesota by 20+ points the next time they played them that year. Not much consolation, but it was something. I remember that year starting out with not much personnel, but they also had many injuries.

Like half their team was suspended. We basically beat an intramural team.

That’s some class Fast Eddie had coming in…Forgot Issa was an Eddie holdover. Haven’t thought about Maishe Dailey or Jahlil Tripp. Dailey was below average at Iowa. Tripp would have been quite a find if he ever made it here, still in the G league.

Anyone who reads the article all the way through will find this little gem buried at the end:

“Those who worried the Scarlet Knights would be non-competitive on the Big Ten's fields have been completely right. In football, they've gone 4-12, with a comical scandal that contributed to Kyle Flood's firing. (To be fair, there does seem to be reason to be excited about new coach Chris Ash.) Ohio State blog Land-Grant Holy Land tabulates that across all sports, Rutgers is 76-199 since joining the Big Ten -- that's a 27.6 percent winning percentage.”

How’d that work out?

Would like to compare that winning percentage across all sports to the percentage hit of money we made relative to the other schools in the league we were expected to compete against. It’s a miracle we won any games at all let alone 30% of them making literally millions if not tens of millions of dollars less from the conference. No wonder getting closer to full share now we are beating up the league in many sports including Men’s Soccer and Women’s Soccer, Lacrosse (and women’s lacrosse somewhat), field hockey, and more wins now coming from wrestling, gymnastics now, track and field .. let alone mens basketball’s rise

What bugs me the most is the link in the article that leads to Ohio State's land grant site. From the very start, all OSU has done is mock Rutgers at every opportunity. Even as we climb the ladder toward the top of the B1G in every sport, OSU continues to mock. In several sports, they continue to laugh at us as they now trail us. OSU has turned into the State Penn crowd of hate just to hate as that school passes you. We went from trailing them in every sport to passing them in basketball, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's soccer, women's rowing, baseball, and field hockey. Did I leave any sport out? I can't wait until we beat them in football. That will destroy their utopian world.

I don’t think that’s really true. The blue bloods in the conference (and quietly PSU) are our biggest advocates. We brought them NY. They don’t want us to be an embarrassment - to them, the best outcome would be for us to beat everyone but them and build up a good amount of regional hype for football.

Embrace it instead of resenting it,
It’ll make us far stronger.

Our Coach is a winner wherever he has played and been a coach turning around programs. I fully expect in years ahead Rutgers MBB will make deep runs into the Big Dance and within 5 years we will get to the Final 4.

Will there be some painful moments yes for sure but the path is claer where this program is headed. Enjoy the ride.
