It is the responsibility of the coaching staff to have players ready to play, and to recruit players who can play when the time is ready for them. If your team has a lot of seniors, then make sure that you have backups with either playing time or juco experience to plug in. After five years at the helm Mullen should have figured out a way to accomplish this. Freeze has done it in two years at Ole Miss -- most notably with Wallace at quarterback. The talent level is not equal for a coaching staff that has been in place for five seasons. If the talent level was equal to what a "building" program has, one turnover term (four years) is all you have to see if the coaching staff can equal or improve what the previous staff did... and Mullen's staff has not equalled and definitely not improved on what Croom brought in. You can either have talented players (like Ole Miss) or talented coaching for less talented players.
State fans can no longer wait for "things to get better," because the rest of the league is racing along at supersonic speed (just saw what Vandy did to Florida... you think Gator leadership is going to wait?) No, there is no longer any patience for waiting in the SEC. Otherwise, call it all off and join the Sun Belt, CUSA or American conferences. SEC membership requires the best efforts and Mullen's term IS NOT THE BEST...
