That place went waaaay downhill after Chefs International took over. Nice to see they are hosting a Rutgers party.
Seems to a theme with those guys. I don’t understand why they pay up for an established business then drive them into the ground by changing the menu and alienating the established clientele.
Sadly admit never been to the "old" Rods or Frankie's, and doubt I will try the revamped ones.
Not sure. I was only at Connolly station for drinks and can’t comment on the food. I like Anchor and think that is the only Chefs international that has a distinct menu. But Rods/Frankies and the cabin had great following for food and bar. Not sure why they would make wholesale changes.
We don't wander out that far West (to the Cabin) for food, but it was always solid, and I think I will give it a try again. Not in town for the Pinstripe Bowl, and we will watch on TV.
Bc the “who’s who” keeps Rods packed, Most of the rest? Can’t beat the views, people will pay for “ok” food & drinks to be on the water.
I get why people flock to certain places. Loved Rods can’t say I would get anything more than a drink there now. Took all of the great dishes off menu. Burger is mediocre at best now. Food has really fallen off. But you lost me with water views. Rods is 5 blocks from the water.
I haven't been to Rod's since it was sold to Chef's International in 2020. Used to be a good spot.
Yea Mother in law likes it so we meet up there with her. I think she likes what it used to be. Food and service have taken a hit since Chefs took it over. But for some reason touched on by Manasquan Mike place still packed.
I think I’m older than both of you (?) but I took the “view” comment differently. I wasn’t thinking water, if you know what I mean.
