Can't have a QB afraid to throw

Laviano will only throw if it's 20 yards or less. He has no confidence in his arm. His assessment is correct. He has an FCS arm. Not impressed with a few scrambles for first downs. Pass plays are meant to generate decent gains.
Would be OK if we could run on our other opponents like we ran today. We will only run like today against Army and no other opponent. Even today we had difficulty sustaining long ground drives. Too many things can stall a drive. In today's football world, even running teams need long gains through the pass. I've seen enough. He can't do it.
Rather "gamble" with HR and see if we can steal a win or two vs. a slow certain (and likely painful) death.

I would put the throws on the coaches not him. They must know what he can do or not and build the plan around that. Don't think our future opponents haven't figure this out as well.

From a play calling point, I agree. Once the play is called, it's on him. Entire stadium saw open receivers all day he refused to o throw to.

No, it's on him. There are receivers open downfield.

Once he does choose to throw it is late & he hangs his receivers out to dry.Somebody is going to get hurt if we keep this guy out there.(which Flood will

Ohara was calling him out on not seeing wide open receivers all day. Even when he tries to throw it away out of the end zone he cant get it far enough to prevent an interception.

I try to never knock a college kid. Since I can't do it I'm not going to question someone who can.

All I'll say is was there anyone else in the stadium who didn't see a 6-6 WR waving his arms 15 yards behind the closest DB? It does seem like he won't throw deep. Game plan or personal decision? Don't know.

The announcers said on a number of occasions that he missed open receivers. I don't think he missed them. I don't think he has the confidence in his arm to get it anywhere past 15 yards.

What we have been told is that he reads D's and sees the field better than HR. So it becomes a question of balls. Evidently his are very late to descend. Rather win or lose with a guy who has a pair (at least it's more fun).

Well then it is even more mind boggling how he could be playing if he lacks the confidence to make certain routine throws.

All I can say is brace yourself for a brutal October. The Big Boys of the conference are going to load 9 in the box and just b!t{h slap the hell out of this offense. When you have a QB with pop warner arm strength (generously speaking) you are royally screwed.

Who told us this? First time I've heard it. People try to speculate why he's playing over Rettig and make stuff up instead of accepting the fact that Flood is clueless. Then it becomes fact on the board.

Really hoped Rettig would get some reps before we got to the conference elite games. Now I'm sure he won't start this season, lest (gods forbid) Lav is injured or beats up an ex girlfriend or something.

Laviano reminds me of the Chris Rock bit: "Wait what? Superman can't walk? (after the tragic Christopher Reeves incident). What's next, Aquaman can't swim? No Chris, a certain RU QB is afraid to throw. After facing WSU QB's, Fresno State QB and a host of others QB's who are pissed at not throwing on 3rd and inches. Our QB is afraid to throw on 3rd and 12.
