They charge for grocery bags in Baton Rouge? Believable in California, but not Louisiana. Unless he went to Costco.

Reminds me of the time Rod Smith, I think, visited Brian Griese's house and found his garage filled with shopping carts.

Griese had been busted with a DUI so he'd just walk the carts home.

I thought it was a Sports Illustrated article but damned if I can find it.

Aldi's charges for bags or you bring them. I keep them in my truck.
I can't tell you them amount of times I picked up a reusable bag at the door that the cashier doesn't scan. I never notice until I check the receipt later. Use this information as you will.

There's a new Aldi's just a mile or so away from me but we've never been. Probably need to check it out, but will remember to take my own bag (have several reusable ones from Publix). Don't you have to rent a shopping cart as well?

You put a quarter in the locking mechanism to unlock it. When you bring it back and lock it back to the other carts you get it back.

8 out of 10 times a person will give you their cart if they are going to bring it back. I always offer my quarter but most don't take it and I usually just give someone my basket when I am through.

All grocery stores in Loudoun County Virginia charge for plastic bags too. However, the plastic bags at 7-11s, auto parts shops, liquor stores, take out restaurants, etc are free. How does that make sense?

Also, I can afford to pay for the plastic bags at groceries but I refuse to do so, just on principle. Instead, I use the paper bags that the grocery stores make available at checkout.

That's what treehuggers want you to do - stop using plastic, which is why certain companies charge for it. Which seems ironic, since the paper ones kill all the trees they hug. 🤷‍♂️

PS, please allow me to make a public service announcement since I'm here: It's ALDI - no 'S'. I guess Aldi's is becoming the new Walmarts or Krogers.
