CBS Article On Fat *** Renardo Sidney

What amazes me is that there are people on this board, and the majority of the people on Swan Lake, refuse to believe that there is a problem with Renardo not going to Europe. We should just cut ties now with this fat *** piece of **** before the season starts:

http://www.cbssports.com/colle...-shouldnt-again

Gary Parish on Renardo Sidney staying home:

2. What's the deal with Renardo Sidney returning to Houston to be with John Lucas rather than going on a preseason exhibition trip in Europe with Mississippi State?

There's no way to spin it into a positive because I just refuse to believe there's a positive reason for a member of a team to not accompany his teammates on a trip designed to build team unity and get a head start on the season to come. John Lucas has had a nice impact on players over the years, and I hope that's the case here. But it should be noted that Lucas doesn't usually spend much time working with players free of issues -- personal issues, substance-abuse issues, whatever -- and it should also be noted that most college coaches, Rick Stansbury included, would never let a seemingly important player skip a preseason trip to "work out" with somebody else two states over unless there were real problems. Again, this is not a good sign.

3. So will Sidney play for Mississippi State this season?

According to Stansbury, that's still the plan. But at this point it's reasonable to be skeptical. The whole Sidney-to-Mississippi State story has been a circus from the start and there's no reason to think it won't end that way, too. Put another way, it won't end well. That's my prediction. It just won't end well and Stansbury will end up regretting ever enrolling the troubled prospect -- that is if he doesn't regret it already.

4. Is Sidney the best of example of "I should've never taken this commitment from this prospect with all these red flags" in recent years?

He's up there, certainly. But Tim Floyd would probably argue that O.J. Mayo deserves consideration considering Mayo's enrollment at Southern California is essentially what ended Floyd's tenure. And Bobby Gonzalez would probably argue that Herb Pope deserves consideration considering Pope popping an opponent in the private parts during an NIT game played a role, at least some role, in Seton Hall firing Gonzalez a year after giving him a contract extension, but Gonzo probably had more to do with his own downfall than Pope or anybody else. Gonzo was and is a mess. He probably needs John Lucas as much as anybody.

Ridiculous he isn't going but at the same time - there is no way he can leave. This is do or die and w/o Sidney - we are a bubble team at best.

and has been nothing but a massive disappointment since setting foot on campus. I would be fine if he never set foot on campus again. If that means we have another ****** season, as bad as that sucks, I am ok with that if it accomplishes Stans leaving after this season.

Stans has become as big of an embarrassment as Sidney at this point.

you are at his mercy- and Sidney and his family are worst case scenario in this situation

Granted I don't know what kind of "workout" regimine he was following with Lucas, but when he came back to Starkville "not in shape enough to go to Europe" that smells bad. It's either one of two things, and neither is good for the MSU. I am awaiting an explanation and hopefully I or someone gets one soon. He should be making the trip or staying in Houston probably at this point.

The only way Sidney is ever asked to leave is if Strickland asks him to. Stansbury is chained to Renardo and the only thing that can cut him loose is an order from his boss and/or the school's president. I agree with the article, this isn't going to end well.

it won't end well.
Stans is betting his job on this clown, and it won't end well. I just hope Sidney never comes back from Houston and we might have a chance to have a decent season. If he does come back, this is Jackie Sherrill letting Kevin Fant come back all over again. And we all know how well that turned out.

had better get his weight down more before season and going to Europe would not help him accomplish that. That's all it is nothing more nothing less. Parish knows not and you all are fools to run with this. Sidney has an agenda to go NBA and he and his family feel this is the best way to go. Stansbury didn't like it but isn't going to stop it. end of story.

it really is pretty pathetic that our head coach demands 0 respect from his players. Players have told me Stansbury is, "an idiot" and "Kirby was the real coach." Stansbury is just a ***** and the players have walked all over him for 10+ years.

Fortunately (or unfortunately) he wins just enough to give people a reason to let him slide on the circus of a program he runs.

I think we have the talent to win enough to get in the dance w/o Mr Dunkin Donuts and all of his baggage. If he makes it back I'm more concerned what the impact will be with Sidney cause we will see another mishap.

Every player on the team knows that Stans isn't in charge and they're all just on their own.If Stans had any balls at all, when Sidney told him he was staying behind to work out in Houston, Stans would have told him that he needs to decide right now if he wants to be on this team or not.

As far as I'm concerned fatass and our HC Stains can both carry their *** together. I would rather take my chances we can get a better head coach than have to deal with **** like this all the time. This is absolutely ridiculous that a program in a conference like ours chooses to deal with this ****. It's fn stupid our program is the way it is and it starts at the top.

If he gets his act together, he will be back, if he doesn't he won't. I know that doesn't promote your agenda but this was entirely a coaching decision. If Sid is enrolled in the fall he willhave his act together. If not, he is going to be in Houston or somewhere else.

There's no doubt the next month or two is a critical time in Stansbury's tenure. Renardo is a difference maker of a player when his head, weight, and attitude are right. We've hardly ever seen any of those three things be right in two years of his being on campus. Not many coaches will still be willing to give the player another chance after being burned that many times. Renardo could make Rick look really good this year, but he could also make him look really, really bad. It's a big risk to take on a guy who has never demonstrated one iota of self-control or respect for others.

Why wouldn't he stop it?
That isn't the end of the story, that crap leads to a dozen questions.

Why the F wouldn't Stans stop it and tell Sidney that he has to travel?

Who does this?!?!

Just asking the question...

I know Joey Barton, the soccer player for Newcastle United who has had some "troubles" in his past, was denied a visa to enter the US for Newcastle's summer exhibition tour by the State Dept.
