CBS Sports executives are slamming the door on ESPN - again. The network signed a big new contract with the Southeastern Conference in late July. Two weeks later saw ESPN seemingly dealing themselves into a 2nd game pick with a new contract.

CBS has decided to exercise it's full rights next week as the network will not allow ESPN a single game being aired on its own family of networks. A news release on Monday by CBS and the SEC to all credentialed media members details their new plan for the next big week of SEC Football.

The Southeastern Conference announced Monday that Tennessee's Oct. 11 contest at Georgia is being televised by CBS Sports and kicks off at 3:30 PM, Eastern Time.

The game kicks off a CBS Sports Spectacular with a day-night doubleheader on CBS that ends with LSU visiting Florida in an 8 PM, Eastern Time start. Both games start a marketing trend that has been used in the past, which is being practiced again.

The only other game being televised that weekend involving SEC teams are South Carolina at Kentucky aired on Raycom Sports (12:30 p.m. Eastern). ESPN or ESPN2 cannot televise any SEC games that weekend due to CBS time period exclusivity.

The CBS option shows clearly they are very serious about keeping the SEC exclusively within the CBS house. CBS exec's say there is still more to come for the SEC fan base on the national viewing platforms.

While both games are national television broadcasts ventures, both of the games can be viewed over the internet free of charge with their excellent streaming packages that were unveiled this season. You won't need a new computer, only need updated software that is available at the click of the mouse.

Hmm it makes sense for this year. Maybe if they battle it out the SEC will reel in even more money from TV rights.

Because ESPN pimps its contracted conferences into ESPN & AP poll stardom.

...exclusivity has always been part of CBS's deal, and at least once a year CBS has rights to two games in a day and someone gets left out.

Nothing new here...plus it falls on the same night as ABC's Nascar Cup series from Charlotte, so there will be no ABC prime game. Musburger and Herbstreit will be doing the noon game from Dallas.

Oklahoma State at Missouri and Penn State at Wisconsin will be your two ESPN/ESPN2 prime games (networks to be decided Sunday), both matching a pair of top 25 teams.
