Speculation is Gundy turns it down, then UT grabs Charlie Strong.

Do I want Gundy gone from OSU? Their fans seem to think they could get Fedora back if so. Would that hurt us to start the season?

Supposedly Gundy has been butting heads with OSU's AD. He wants complete control of the football program. If he turns it down, they must have kissed and made up.

Can someone explain to me just what it is that so many people seem to see in Fedora? The man has only had 1 good season in his career and 4-5 mediocre seasons. Even in his good season he lost 2 games to terrible teams. I've got a good friend who is a huge North Carolina fan. He was all excited and gushing over Fedora until he saw the team play. He's not nearly so high on him now and according to him a lot of their fanbase is grumbling about him. They haven't jumped off board, but they're not nearly as impressed with him as they were 3 months ago. I know he is a great offensive coach. I enjoy watching his offenses. But his defenses are terrible and he always finds a way to have a couple of WTF games every year.

Apparently this is correct. Perhaps Fedora.

and this is just another reason I say SC has passed Tennessee in the hierarchy of the SEC. I dont see 3-4-5 people kicking SC in the nuts after Spurrier decides to step down.

Agree about USC passing UT. If I'm a promising coach I'd have to think long and hard before taking the UT job, especially right now. You've got pending NCAA sanctions that you don't really know how bad they will be and you have UGA, UF, USC & Bama as permanent opponents. Not saying a good coach couldn't win there, but it's going to be real tough. I don't see them getting back to the Majors/Fulmer type seasons any time soon.

If this guy is really on UT's short list, I don't know how they can ignore the 0-12 he left behind at Mississippi Southern.

There were a lot of things that went into 0-12 that weren't Fedora's fault. But there's no question one significant factor was that he left the cupboard bare. I think he knew last year was his year to get the hell out of Hattiesburg.
