Never did understand why these guys don't wear their headgears fastened down

tight. That thing coming off can hurt not to mention tear an ear off when rotated by force. Go figure....

If your helmet is rotating, I'd rather it do so without my head attached to it.

Yeah, but now we see defensive players trying to rip helments off at the bottom of the piles and stuff. I'm sorry, but I don't think this rule made the game safer.
