My challenge to all of the pack is this: Immesrse yourselves in 1980 with me so we can do it again! If anyone has a left over PBR from 1980, PM I'll drink it pregame...

-Most important event in 1980= On July 10th the birth of Jessica Simpson (Moment of silence in appreciation of dumb hot blondes)

In 1980 we were 6-2 and coming off wins at #18 Miami and against Auburn in Jackson. There was excitement and belief that we had a good shot vs Alabama.
In 2011 we are 5-4 coming off wins at Kentucky and at home vs Tenn Martin. I hope we have a QB at game's end.

Like you, I'm looking for a glimmer...but I don't see a D line like the one we had in '80.

ETA: At my high school they actually announced who shot JR at halftime of the basketball game that conflicted with that episode.

That is actually a better comparison. Bama was exactly the same at 8-1 and ranked in the top 5. State....3-5 with a loss earlier in the year to La Tech. Jackie rides off the field on the shoulders of his playersa 17-16 winner as talk had begun to swirl of him being gone. He saves his job with that win, followed by a close loss to Ark, and a 30-0 win in Oxford. 2 years later we filed into the Ga Dome to watch us play in the SEC Championship Game and Jackie was Kang again!

Greg Favors went off- he looked like Lawrence Taylor.

One of the weirdest games I've ever been to- we won because our defense scored every TD or safety and our offense accounted for two points on the two point conversion.

That was the now infamous Brad Lott game. We had just gone up 17-0, and I saw Eric Dotson and a couple of our players yelling at the stands- I was in the end zone with the band. I had no idea until later what had happened.
