Are the Duff brothers getting involved in Southern Miss athletics? That’s the most logical explanation.
The Duff brothers have been involved financially in USM Athletics for more than a decade. They contribute more to athletics at USM than Ole Miss or Mississippi State. Their gifts to Ole Miss & Mississippi State have primarily been for academics.

It is frustratingly ironic how the best homegrown MS football player (that attended D1) went to USM, and now the richest people in the state of MS that actually live there, are USM alumni and live in south MS in that general area.

And the top 2 guys above Favre both went HBCU, because the D1 schools were too cool for all that.

You really have to try to mess up football as much as MS has.

Update: Charles Huff and USM have a very tentative non-binding verbal agreement, but he's probably still shopping himself around for a better deal. GA Tech OC Buster Faulkner is the presumed fallback candidate, that that's not set in stone either. One thing certain is Huff will not be going back to Marshall.

I sat in a room and watched Huff recruit kids. From that experience I can tell you he is a hell of a recruiter. Other than being the Devil, I moonlight as a high school football coach among a few other jobs.

USM headed to signing day with no coach in place
Probably a lot of schools in that boat. Stupid day to have signing day. Either do it in August or wait at least another week or two.

Nah, not many coaching changes this cycle and the early date is beneficial generally. Keeps all those games from being played and the portal able to go earlier.

It's got to be a benefit for the kids too to be able to sign and get it over with rather than have people like Rosebowl, Gene or Yancy back in the day, etc blowing up their phones daily.
