It's the turf.

I saw it. I've played on that stuff. That's why I said it benefits speedy teams. That's how that stuff plays.

Bingo. It also helps your run, too. You run much faster on that stuff and slide much faster than on regular dirt.

He literally slid for 1/4 of the distance between 2nd and 3rd.

And he still almost over over-slid the bag. That was one of the problems they had to get acclimated to with the turf. Over sliding. I still hate that stuff. That's just not baseball.

Yeah, you could also tell the ball plays much differently off of it - especially when it's wet. In the Saturday game, Pirtle came in on a double play ball early and the ball just skid right under him. It's a much faster surface, there is no question.
