It's just incredible to me that there's that one old tree in the middle of a farm field that has somehow fought off a blight that killed multiple billion of it's kind.

I can't recommend them enough. If you prefer to listen, he has narrated most of his books himself and does an excellent job with that too. Sadly, a few are abridged versions though for some reason.

Posting while drinking is great fun. However, much like Billiards, Golf, Darts, etc there exists The Window. Where you start off too tight, but as you imbibe, you loosen up and perform better. Yet The Window closes later on, and then you're just drunkenly throwing darts or shltposting.
