I never knew that about the reason for the loss of the Kenwood game. I remember sending a letter to the football staff telling them how shocked and disappointed I was in a proud program. I now stand shamefully corrected almost 30 years later !The biggest threat to a CCL school in those days was a flare-up of mumps or measles (due to lack of vaccination reqs in catholic elementary schools) - a mumps outbreak decimated the Rita roster in 1986 and as a result they lost in the first round to CPS Kenwood Academy 12-zip in one of those Wednesday games. KA was summarily dispatched 36-0 by St. Laurence the next Saturday.
