Is it just me or is the size of their delicious sandwich getting smaller?
My youngest daughter said this a couple weeks ago.
She LOVES the spicy deluxe.
8th grader tall thin plays volleyball (right side hitter / middle blocker) softball (pitcher / center field) and also runs track.

Kid eats like Shetland pony after games / tournaments - 1 combo meal plus an additional sandwich and a cookie.

Chick fil a is her go to place

Probably. Often during tough times companies reduce size rather than raise prices. I’ve seen it happen with tuna, Cadbury eggs, pizza rolls and a multitude of stuff.

Yup, a way to cover inflation. Just reduce the size and keep the price the same. A lot of things are noticably smaller than they use to be. Haven't been to Chick fil a in a while, so I can't say. But their service is off the charts for a fast food establishment.

If there is one company that hasn't been effected by the rise in inflation, it would have to be Chic-fli-A. No matter what time of day I go by one, they are out to the road at the drive thru and the parking lot is full.
Define “effected.” I think fast food may be more of an option for people during inflation times or people go to the Mexican joint or Ryan’s instead of the higher priced restaurants. Even still, the margins shrink for everyone until the prices go up. And, when the prices go up …

Theoretically, if the dollar recovers (not sure Congress is acting in a manner to make that happen), competition will drive the prices back down.

very true, but that’s not the whole story. The price of goods go up to the point that no matter how much you sell, you have to charge more or lose money. Supply chains and completely screwed up right now between covid and weather.

Inflation is only part of the story. Literally weather patterns have screwed up seafood harvesting. Rising temps in the Gulf of Mexico supposedly has killed off seafood that otherwise would have been harvested and frozen. Something like 10 million pounds short from normal. Ergo, price goes up, regardless of inflation or not.

I've seen restaurants lately that list chicken wings as 'market price' now because of shortages.

When I was a kid, market price meant it was too expensive.

Could it be age and perspective?

My dad is convinced that McDonald's has shrunk it's burgers over the years, but this is not the truth. Since McDonald's began it was always a very small burger. Burger King actually made it's fame off of poking fun at McDonald's and boasting a "an entire meal in a burger" with the Whopper. It wasn't until 1971 when McDonald's came out with the quarter pounder (their bigger burger)......and then used the bigger bun and pattie from the quarter pounder to make a big version of the Big Mac......but this didn't last long. The McDonald's corporation has said time and time again that the size of their burgers hasn't changed at all. (except that the quarter pound pattie has actually increased a few ounces to offset the shrinkage during the cooking process)

.....But my dad still is convinced that it's a much smaller product.

It sucks if you ask me. I tried to get a chicken sammich at their drive thru the last couple Sundays. Couldn’t get anyone to take my order. I drive over to Wendy’s and got waited on right away.
Haha. I have never been to a Chick fil A and my wife likes them. I always tell her I have a huge craving for them on Sundays.

There is a Chick Fil A right across the street from where i work on Sundays. Someone gave me a gift card for Christmas and I didn't use it until May because of that

Like toilet paper. We'll eventually be able to get a roll of toilet paper into a Scotch tape dispenser.

Sorry but I just don’t see the mass appeal of Chick Fil A. Their food is ok, but not worth waiting 15 cars deep in the drive through.

I also don't think it is as good as some people make it out to be. But I've gone through their drive thru that was 15 cars deep faster than most fast food places can do 5 cars. Its like Yogi Berra said "no one eats their anymore, it's too crowded"

The spicy chikin sammidge is really good (2nd only to Popeye's) and the sweet tea is always spot on, but the rest of their stuff is pretty meh. I've tried the chikin biscuit a couple of times, but the biscuit dough was way underdone and I wound up just eating the chikin off of them.

15 cars deep isn’t too bad - that’s like a 5 minute wait
I wish our Chick Fil A was only 15 cars deep. It feels like half of their staff is in the parking lot taking pre orders. I live in a small town and they have 3 x the business other fast food restaurants have.

They also have great public relations. A few years ago when the hurricane came through they opened up and were passing out free chicken sandwiches. People didn't forget.

I kind of think it's overrated. Just like it's crazy to me to drive hours to some of these special release breweries, just to pay extra for a slightly better IPA.. I think it's crazy to do the same for Chic Fil A, wait an extra half hour, for a chicken sandwich that, yes, is only a little better than KFC or McDonalds.

Chic Fil A is very good, but the closest one is an hour and a half away (which yes, people make trips to).. not worth it IMO.

Every business should take note of how Fila runs their operations. On point and their app and rewards make it even better.

I recently downloaded the MCD's app b/c that is where I get my coffee in the morning and its a miserable experience. Today for example:

Employee in drive thru: What can I get you
Me: My rewards # is ----
Employee: What? Is that a mobile order?
Me: No
Employee: You need to speak up
Me: Its a rewards #
Employee: What is it?
Me: #----
Employee: Reads back a completely different #
Me: I will see you at the window

I get to the window and this girl has her phone on playing music and I hear the N word, ***** among other words. Total 180 from Fila. This location as well is the one by Ballard.

I think anyone who really has bad stuff to say about Chick Fil-A has ideology differences. I only order the classic chicken sandwich, but it's always the same delicious sandwich if I'm in Lexington or Bowling Green. The same great service, as well. For fast food, what more do you want?
