Kansas. Domed stadium. 2031
And the city of Chicago is going to have a massive amount of debt on Soldier Field with no tenant. The Chicago Bears are exploring a move to Northwest Indiana if they can't build a new stadium on land they bought in Arlington Heights.
I don’t know how the fine print works out on that one, but I’m guessing that real estate would sell pretty easilyAnd the city of Chicago is going to have a massive amount of debt on Soldier Field with no tenant.
Should be a retractable roof.Domes should be banned from football.
Hopefully. The K is great but as far as amenities go it’s bottom third of the league for sure. Before too long the Royals will be playing downtown.
17 that. Outside all the way.Should be a retractable roof.
Has there not been a new one since Arrowhead? The current stadium in KC is old. I have pictures of me at a KC game when I was 6-7 years old, I’m currently 60. It’s probably time.
Buffalo’s new stadium doesn’t have a dome. The fans were very vocal about not wanting one. And that’s in freaking Buffalo.17 that. Outside all the way

They are just different up here. With that being said, it wouldn't be a home game without the WNY weather.Buffalo’s new stadium doesn’t have a dome. The fans were very vocal about not wanting one. And that’s in freaking Buffalo.
No it hasn’t but it’s still a nice venue with abundant parking and tailgatingHas there not been a new one since Arrowhead?
Often, economic impact studies are greatly over inflated, some sports teams cost the local municipality more than the event brings in.Mizzurah voters turned them down. Snooze ya lose
One local example. The Mississippi Braves. Pearl took on a lot of debt & revenues never matched the debt service. And now the revenues are gone but the debts still being paid off. Happens all the time all over the country.Often, economic impact studies are greatly over inflated, some sports teams cost the local municipality more than the event brings in.
I drove by it a few weeks ago , Arrowhead and Royals baseball stadium are sitting side by side with a huge parking area between and around them. They’re right off the interstate. I think that it actually butts up to the river.Has there not been a new one since Arrowhead?
Disagree, for what fans have to invest in tickets, they deserve a great fan experience. Not everyone wants to sit in the freezing cold, snow or rain.Domes should be banned from football.
English soccer stadiums have it right. Fans get a roof over the stands, field is open. You can always dress for the cold as long as it's above 20 degrees, which is the vast majority of the time even for a city like Buffalo.Disagree, for what fans have to invest in tickets, they deserve a great fan experience. Not everyone wants to sit in the freezing cold, snow or rain.

That's a bit of an apples to cumquats comparison. Minor league baseball isn't making money like the NFL.One local example. The Mississippi Braves. Also, it makes them eligible to host super bowls.Disagree, for what fans have to invest in tickets, they deserve a great fan experience. Not everyone wants to sit in the freezing cold, snow or rain.
Yeah. Pearl just lost a little money. Kansas about to be on the hook for $3,000,000,000 and get virtually nothing in return. But yeah the Chiefs will make a fortune. That's a bit of an apples to cumquats comparison. Minor league baseball isn't making money like the NFL.
All facts as I remember it. Thought his kids/grandkids were playing with one when he thought of it?Maybe a little known fact related to the Chiefs but — the Super Bowl was named so by Chiefs owner Lamar Hunt kiddingly called the game that in the 60’s after a toy ball named the Super Ball that was popular during that time.
Commissioner Pete Rozelle didn’t like the name but it stuck and has for 60 years.
Also Hunt thought adding Roman numerals would lend a little bit of class to their
un-classy name and that had stuck as well.
The Stadium deal was negotiated by Kansas Democrat Governor.
the outside looks extremely datedNo it hasn’t but it’s still a nice venue with abundant parking and tailgating
Thanks for that info Lee - I wasn't aware of that. Does not change my view that publicly-funded sports arenas coupled with private profit-taking is generally a bad deal for taxpayers. The Stadium deal was negotiated by Kansas Democrat Governor.
Lots of concrete as most every stadium is/was back then but still a good venuethe outside looks extremely dated
I generally agree with this, but it’s hard to argue the “what ifs” for either side. So everyone brags they made the smart decision. Will Kansas’ $3B gift to the Hunt family generate $10B in new tax revenue in the developments around the new stadium? If it does, does that actually benefit the tax payers? Thanks for that info Lee - I wasn't aware of that.
