Chip Kelly is the definition of a home run hire, and the fact that anyone is saying otherwise is proof that we can never please everyone. Might as well hire a high school freshman B team basketball coach, that way we can at least all be on the same page again! There is probably 6 coaches I would take over Chip Kelly and none of which who would come here... Saban, Meyer, Fisher, Sweeney, Peterson and Shaw

Kelly was fired after 4 years at Philadelphia.

Kelly was fired after 1 year at San Francisco.

Kelly would have been fired at Oregon but he left campus just ahead of NCAA imposed sanctions (including a "show cause" penalty against Kelly himself) after finding major violations. Oregon was placed on 3 years probation, the number of athletic scholarships were reduced and annual paid visits were reduced from 56 to 37 during the term. One of the major findings by the NCAA was that Kelly paid scout Willy Lyles $25,000 in cash to lure a recruit to Oregon.

You hire Kelly, you get everything he brings with him.

It's only a home run hire if he wants to be here, he doesn't want to be here.
What makes you say that? We have the history and tradition to match anyone and the support for the program is second to none. I think Chip Kelly's smart enough to see that if we come calling.

True! One losing season in 16 years coaching I National Champ, 3 conference champs and a nice head of hair! Entertaining and by all accounts a nice guy!
And what other coach could so effectively use the bounce pass fake field goal?

In addition, Kelly goes for 2, goes for it on 4th down, and acts untraditionally in a state that's about as conservative about its football as its politics.

Kelly never seemed to place any real value in defense, so he's an obvious choice to rebuild the Blackshirts.

I'd go after Paul Johnson (Georgia Tech) before Kelly. Less flash, but way more substance.

That flexbone offense wouldn't work in many places, but it'd feel right at home in a place where option football last saw glory.

Then you ground and pound and play hard hat defense -- an identity that suits Nebraska football.

I would rather have Calhoun than Johnson if you like that approach.
