Thought Kelly might be the OC at Cal. Yesterday they named Beau Baldwin, who was head coach at Eastern WA, as the new OC.

we're against winning football games...news to me.
Nebraska fans on this board and in the stadium went from flaccid to erect when Janikowski broke free for a TD against Wisconsin.

The style matters to Husker fans more than the result. Kelly's offensive philosophy is the opposite of what everyone says they want to see. His offensive philosophy does not lend itself to being able to play good defense. As far as what everyone says is their ideal candidate, he is the exact opposite.

I feel like you might be not correct.

neb fans would be erect all the time if we had chip Kelly's record. you're being an idiot.

in 4 years at Oregon Chip was 47-6 with a trip to the championship game and 3 new years 6 bowls

if we went 47-6 over a 4 year span you're right we would be ecstatic ... but man there would be a lot of bitching that we didn't run the ball enough in those 6 losses

Chip is an odd cat. He is not media friendly so I don't see him on tv. He is not even all that friendly to boosters. I am not even sure he likes his players all that much. I know a former player well, who started for Ducks when Chip was the OC and he says if you passed Chip in a hallway and you were the only two people there, Chip would make no attempt to acknowledge your presence. He would just keep his head down and scurry by you. He likes nothing more than sitting in a film room devising new offensive plans. I think he fell into a great gig with the Ducks. Mike Bellotti was under pressure to hire an OC to get him over the hump. I think once Chip got to Eugene, Phil Knight and other boosters, saw what a brilliant football mind Chip has for football and forced Bellotti out. For Chip to succeed at another college he is going to need to have carte blanche like he did in Eugene coupled with a big time supporter like he had in Phil Knight. Not sure there are too many opportunities like that.

Scott Frost is a Nebraska guy and about 10 minutes after he got the UCF job, he answered the question of "why UCF?".

The answer was simple, he runs a Chip Kelly type of offense, and UCF has access to those type of athletes.

This might be me, but I would think that Chip Kelly would have that attitude x100, and he'd take one quick look at the 500 mile radius and figure out that he'd have a heck of an easier time at a coastal school running *his style* of football.

The only way Kelly comes here is if

1. The State of Nebraska loses any sort of moral hazard over his recruiting violations
2. The UNL AD pays a couple boatloads of money
3. Chip Kelly changes his style of offense to better suit what he has available here.

Someone can say "well Chip Kelly *could* work as hard as Mike Riley to recruit and probably have better results because he's Chip Kelly", and that's precisely my point. Chip Kelly being Chip Kelly, will take UCLA's 12 million and not have to work nearly as hard as if he took our 12 million.

You keep forgetting that like Pelini, Kelly was just one of those wonks who had an esoteric system no one was used to. Then he got cute and took it to the NFL where professionals chewed it up and spit it out. Not to mention that his system is patty cake football

Going to guess in the booth somewhere for a year then if UCLA has another down year that would be my guess.
