No way you can coach tonight. This whole thing is a major distraction to your team without you being there. Don't compound it by coaching tonight.

Well, alcoholism and drunkenness affects people in different ways. My grandfather (whom I never knew because he died in his early 40s) was an alcoholic and was one of those nice drunks. He never met a stranger and was a functioning alcoholic. He started drinking first thing every morning and was pretty well buzzed all day long, held down a job, and was friendly to family and friends. I had a good friend in high school who was the life of the party kind of drunk, most of the time. But then there was the time he got drunk and mixed his alcohol with some other drugs and beat up his landlord, nearly killed him, and wound up in jail. Truth is, it's nearly impossible to predict how drunkenness will affect someone. And it can change, too, in an instant. Stories of my grandfather and then his premature death, along with my own faith, have led me to never touch the stuff. I've had a glass of wine at a friend's wedding. That's pretty much it. I don't think it's wrong to have a drink. It's just not for me.

I'm not sure what the root issue is for Beard. I wish him well but if this turns out to be true, he's probably going to be losing his job. Felony assault, even a 3rd degree charge, is very serious. But maybe it's a misunderstanding or we don't have the whole story. We will know soon enough.
Yeah alcohol can be handled fine or it can be a firestarter for sure. Might not make a person beat up someone but it can sure make them smart off or something that in turn escalates to something much worse.

Yeah because people who are victims of DA NEVER defend their abuser.

Again. He’s charged with a FELONY. That means there’s some serious evidence or potential testimony. I highly doubt the DA slapped a felony charge over a misunderstanding.
Did the DA charge this or are the charges from the arresting officers? I don't know how this worked.

His lawyer knows she doesn't want to press charges, so he knows she's not going to cooperate so that makes it easy for him to make a resounding statement that it didn't happen.......in hopes that his statement and her not pressing charges will make it go away fast.
In cases of domestic violence prosecution no longer relies on the cooperation of the victim especially if there are obvious, documentable signs of abuse coupled with her initial complaints on scene. No more dropping charges due to lack of victim cooperation.

He's toast. This is not the right era to assault a family member as a representative of a public university. Wife battering? I guess time will tell.

This board is so poisonous right now I rarely visit.

But this seems a good time to express gratitude for having as University of Kentucky's highest profile public official a man who has recruited kids who have brought praise and honor to the university virtually without exception for a dozen years, and who has been a symbol of activist charity work, raising millions of dollars for Kentuckians in need and people in places like Haiti.

John Calipari has been a great public image for Kentucky and the university. As a Kentuckian now living on the East Coast I can appreciate how much that means. Thanks Coach Cal.
Couldn’t have said it better. But, “Cal doesn’t run inbounds plays, he only plays his favorites, he doesn’t run offense, he let his players kneel” You are right, it is toxic on here, but most won’t look at the overall picture and how good Cal has been at UK and what he has done for the state. Sad state of affairs on Rupp Rafters nowadays.

Hold on - you’re saying that you’ve said for two years that you don’t think Beard would be a good coach here? Saying you have never advocated for him here? I thought you liked CB? I thought you actually wanted him? Maybe I’m thinking of someone else. Not sure. I thought you were one of the ones that wanted him? No? Who am I thinking of if it wasn’t you? No attempt at flame here, honestly asking….
He always liked Beard.

Sure hope so if he did it.

I'm just going to say the quiet part out loud. Chris Beard is a wealthy white man in TX, with some pretty good pull as the basketball coach at UT. Considering TX is about as conservative a place as you will find left in this nation, it appears he is getting no leeway as he was swiftly arrested, booked and they took their sweet *** time arraigning him. They clearly are very comfortable with the evidence and charges they have against him.
That’s the quiet part because it’s dumb.

Austin is not Conservative by any means, though.

Chris’ current girlfriend Randi Trew is a former Texas Tech volleyball player who now coaches the sport.

According to Randi’s Instagram bio, which is now private, she owns home and small business organization Trewly Organized.

Speaking about his relationship with Randi to NBC Sport, Beard said: “My girlfriend now is a high-school volleyball coach, and I tell her that her season is just the same as mine.

“It’s all relative. When she has a big game it’s just like if we’re playing Texas or Baylor. When you’re a competitor and you’re in competition, the level doesn’t matter.”

Seems to me there are several grown adults here who are taking a domestic violence charge against a Texas basketball coach and bizarrely twisting it to sunshine pump for calipari. You've got a lot of nerve attacking people and talking about "class".

You gott a lot of nerve accusing me of using this to make Calipari look good when it's 100% not the case.

Post up where I've said one single thing here about Calipari. You can't. So your post is straight trash.

I think she’s looking right at me…..your avatar. Pretty sure she is. And I think she’s saying, well, can’t say it here. But yeah, she’s looking at me. No doubt.

She great. Great career, mother, and lover. I took that pic on thanksgiving night just before our workout. If it weren’t for that Yankees tattoo on her *** she’d be perfect.

Surprised they had anyone to respond to the 911 call what with their slashing of the police budget.

'” Austin City Council cut 150 officer positions from the 1,959-member police force and canceled a trio of cadet classes last year as part of a $150 million round of police budget cuts.

Your reply to Sejonesey was quite telling. Blow it out your arse, Load.
No, you're wrong and have no class so you can't admit it. You'd have to have an agenda to take my reply to him and twist that into anything related to Calipari and domestic violence. Thanks for giving me a big laugh at how pathetically low you'll stoop. I've said multiple times here that he's going to get fired, so I'm taking it seriously and you're a straight up liar.
