Yeah it’s weird because I thought they did much better in the portal than we did

Beard will be the first to tell you that Beard will demand Beard quality ball because Beard doesn't put to with things Beard doesn't like.

Unless something drastic happens and one or both make NCAA, Jans will be 3 out of 4 on getting in vs Beard 1 out of 3

This year sucks but that is a stat that everybody should be remembering when they ***** about Jans. Yes, we disappointed in the tournament, but in general, we should be thrilled if we go to the tourney 3 out of 4 years, even if you're counting playing games. The years we don't make it it's going to look like Jans did a ****** job, particularly in the portal era where you don't have clear cycles, but we're just not likely to get and keep a coach that is going to have us dancing every year.

Yeah. Looks like this year is gonna suck. But there’s not much he could do this year to even think about firing him. Next year though would be a different story.

I mean, even next year, if there are no off the court issues, I don't know that we fire him. Just hard to judge in the portal world but I think he gets two years of suckage after the performance his first three years.

Nobody gets two free years of complete suckage. Especially a coach without an NCAa tournament win. I’m not talking about missing the tournament, I’m talking about two 3-15 years in a row.

Disagree. We're paying a coach a top 25 salary and spending top 50 on a roster. Making the tournament is bare minimum ROI.

Stop comparing 2020s State basketball to 1980s State basketball.

Eh, a top 50 roster doesn’t sound super impressive? Sure, it’s better than a lot, but I would think sure things get hard at that range? Nobody would expect a top 50 recruiting ranking to obviously translate into a good team.

were we generally recruiting outside the top 50 with stansbury?

I’m not saying Jan’s didn’t do a bad job building this team. We’re definitely getting a bad return on our investment this year. I just don’t know that what we’re spending means we shouldn’t ever have years like this. We’re not paying what it takes to get sure things, and Jan’s chose poorly this year.
