Troy cannot block him. He's played well in all games so far. Gonna be one hell of a defensive linemen in the SEC. He's truly Elite. If we can somehow turn Quay, James, Smith or land another DT that's a Elite in the next year or two we might have an SEC D-line that can compete against a Bama or LSU.

This is fact. Barring injury, he will be the best Dlineman to ever play at

State. Again, barring injury, he will also be the best NFL D-lineman we have ever had. I'm not sure where his BEST future is. It could be Dend or Dtackle. He is that good.

I'm not trying to start an argument, but why do I keep hearing about Balis and..

his ability to make men of our players. When was the last time our line physically dominated an SEC opponent? I'm not saying it's his fault, but I don't see us being that much better physically than anyone else.

Holy ****!!! He must be the Hugh Green of MState if you say anything positive, do love the barring injury twice though.

I wish Balis would have kept him at 280 lbs. That dude would have been impossible to block at the DE spot. I wish we could run him at DE some, just to see what he can do with a 1 on 1 matchup. As it is set right now, he is helping P Smith play at a higher level because he is taking all the double teams and chips.

Jones played D end on at least two occasions tonight. Got to the QB on back to back plays from DE in the second half. He is a beast no doubt. And I thought Preston Smith played a hell of a game tonight.

im kinda torn on where i want jones to be. physically, right now, he is a dt all day err day. he can be effective and have a great career there...but from a selfish standpoint, i want someone that can get to the qb. i would like to see him lean up and get a chance, but that is largely going to be based on what he is willing to do. as things stand now, im not sure how you can have a true de at damn near 300 lbs and expect said player to effectively fulfill his defensive responsibilities. its in his hands to push away the extra burger (or whatever a 6-6 300 lb man-child eats) and run the extra lap...i dont see the coaches giving him a legitimate shot until he gets his weight in check.

all that said, he is a physical freakshow. he had his lineman on rollerskates all night with his very impressive bullrush. if he develops some moves hes going to be a key to opening up pressure he was also pretty damn disruptive in that run game. great future for him.

None of the staff let him get up from 280. He gained it between his last season at Houston and stepping on campus. But he was impressive last night.
