How many plays were the receiver coming back to an underthrown ball? He hit very few targets in stride.

He def throws the best underthrown deep ball in RU history.

Gotta like where he is in terms of development.

I wanted Rettig & he looked good when he played. But coaches chose Laviano for a reason. The last 2 games he has been really really good.

boom. Sophomore with another great game. How did you like the fourth quarter clutch play?

Laviano as a sophomore is playing like Hart, Nova and Teal (last 6 games only) played as seniors.

For the many haters - how is ya like the arm strength?

AGREED!!!!
Name the last QB to look this good in only his 6th start. I am thrilled we have him for 2+ more seasons. He is a very good QB!! All of you calling him out are disgraceful!!! I hope he does not read theses boards or any QB recruit for that matter. Support your QB because we have a damn good one!!!!! Thank you Russo for ignoring the *ssclowns on these boards if you do happen to visit here.

If he didn't have a pop gun for an arm he'd be pretty good. But man is that arm weak sauce.

I just hope we open up this offense with him more. He'll get better and better soon.

Laviano was good today but don't forget Martin and James made huge runs. Agiodosi (spelling ?) made some great catches after Carroo got hurt. Laviand did throw one interception and fumbled twice I believe that he recovered, one was a snap from center and the other was when he got sacked. He missed Goodwin on a very bad underthrown ball which should have been about a 3 yard lob for a first down on a 3rd down play. He also missed a wide open Patton on the 10 yard line when he threw behind him. He did make a few runs for first downs and led us to a victory and he still has 2 more years but his accuracy and under thrown balls did occur a few times tonight. We got lucky as momentum really changed after the bad snap took place on the Indiana punt. I think the entire team and staff needs to receive credit for this win. So many people contributed.

Clearly the underthrown ball played into Caroo getting injured, but laying the injury at Laviano's feet is bung hole.

He was big time. Down the stretch. Clutch performance. Kid is fearless and s real fighter. He look shakey there for a bit but got it together and played an outstanding game overall. Kudos.

Very good game.. Indiana's defense is horrid. Nothing against Laviano.. he has played very well the past couple of games. I just having a feeling that there is a fairly low ceiling that Rutgers can get to with Laviano as QB. To become an elite team, especially in a pro style offense, you are going to need a QB who can make most of the throws and stretch the field.

Hope he proves me wrong.

He knocked Carroo out of the game with his terrific arm.
Dumbest effing post I've ever read. He made a good, not great pass for a TD, which Carroo made a very good catch on - him getting injured is what happens sometimes when players collide - to pin that on CL is ridiculous. Laviano had an awesome game and anyone who can't see that is an effing moron.

never understood the qb controversy as I thought either qb would have trouble growing into the job and replacing Nova. Laviano is really coming along nicely in his throws and decision making. Today was a huge step in his development

He came through in the end, but he struggled with a lot of the short and screen passes. The TV commentators were making fun of him, which I didn't think was professional.

Are you out of ur mind!?!?

Dink and dunk won't win you many games against good teams!
He threw for 386 yards 3 TD's and 1 int...and you're bitching...Carroo and Augodosi both caught long passes 40-50 yards ....those dinks and dunks can win games .

Both QB's played against 2 of the nation's worst Pass Efficiency Defense today so let's just throw that out (we all know it). That being said you can't take anything away from a sophomore, starting his 6th game every, tonight. Kudos to Laviano for sticking to it and getting the job done.

It amazes me that so many people on this board can't understand a fairly rudimentary concept.

He is the best quarterback on the team. He just doesn't have the best arm.

It's not an uncommon situation. It's only *****-worthy within the bubble of what has become the whiniest fan base in all of sports.

Just ask the Patriots. [eyeroll]. 386 yds, 3td, 1 int. 50+ points of offense. In his 6th start. And people still refuse to get behind him and want to call for the back up.

What a miserable bunch. If you want to know why we won't win many big games, look to our 3rd string secondary.

Mike McMahon as a true freshman. Not a knock on Laviano, 'cause McMahon was lights out given the team he was leading.
Mike Teel was NOT as good after 6 games...Teel as I'm sure he would admit today had a ton of issues early ... the stands were full of probably the same idiots as today..."put Hart in...Teel sucks" and worst... Ryan Hart was the #1... then #2 and then #1 again... in 2006 Mike Teel's RS sophomore year is when he began to improve...He did have a B1GTIME arm.

Best QB on the team? how would you know that, because of the 1/2 game he
played? If CL didn't get suspended you wouldn't have seen even that much.
So you think he'w good? If you were the coach you would ignore Rettig for
these 3 years. Of cource If Cl is the only one playing he will improve, but
is he the one that will beat Mich, Ohio State, Neb,Wisc. and so forth. Would you not play the one with the NFL arm. Do you think CL's arm will get
him a national championship or entry into the NFL? How do you know
if Rettig has or doesn't have the tools for this. You are telling us you think Rettig should be ignored.? You saw what in his one appearance that would
cause you to waste his talent. Why are you and Flood so reluctant to
see if Rettig has what it takes? Are basing your decision on the putrid
defense that Indiano has?

Art, how dare you use facts to make your point. you do know you are the only one
to see the fumbles, interception, underthrown passes, right.[eyeroll]
