Anybody heard anything out of him? It seems like he's lost in all of this with Bumphis, Thames, Sanders, Perkins, and all those guys. But he was rated pretty highly on both Scout and Rivals. I'm assuming he's headed for a redshirt...

is he one of those overrated star guys, or was it because he enrolled early? I think I saw something saying he enrolled in January.

Just judging from his high school film... He seems to be a possession type receiver. Good hands, Good routes, etc... I see him being good for us down the road, but I guess he's just not turning heads thus far.

He did not enroll in January. Sam Watts and Cameron Lawrence were the only high schoolers who did. I think he might redshirt. Good receiver at Meridian. Possession type, different that Bumphis and Heavens. Good signee though. Can help us down the road I think.

...he is not over rated. Nor did enroll in the Spring. The mean of all Chris Smith's ratings from all different recruiting services was #53 WR in the country. He committed very early, everyone knew he was going to State along with his best friend, Tyler Russell. Other schools simply didn't want to waste their time. Chris is a possession receiver. We have a number of them, including Brandon McRae, Leon Berry, etc. Bumphis, Heavens, Perkins, Thames and Sanders draw attention because of their 4.4 or less speed. Chris is about 4.5, but with the departure of Delmon Robinson and Terrance Davis, the slot receiver positions have become more the center of attention.

4.4 or less? He runs a 4.5? Not saying they aren't fast but the average 40 time at the combine last year for WR's was close to a 4.6 so either those are inflated forty times or State will have the fastest WR's in conference behind Florida and their inflated forty times.

I'd question any and every forty time for high school kids doesn't matter what school they sign with and same goes for forty times recorded while in college. Most programs use fast tracks, sloped tracks or short forties just look at Terrel Pryor and his supposed 4.3 forty. Guys don't get slower in college.

that when it comes to a bullfraud player stat post:

1. Increase listed 40 time by 0.3 seconds;
2. Decrease bench by minimum 50 pounds;
3. Decrease height by 1.5 inches;
4. For OLs and overhyped RBs, increase weight by 20 pounds; for QB/WR/CB, decrease weight by 20 pounds.
5. Ignore pointless hyperbole, which means ignoring 75% of his post.
6. Reply with the question, "Hey, Packer, those measurements taken in sock feet?"

Bumphis was listed by at least one recruiting service as running a 4.37. In fact, he ran it at an Alabama camp.
Ricco Sanders was listed by most as 4.37.
Brandon Heavens was listed by most at 4.4.
Dennis Thames was listed by most at 4.4.

All are slot receiver types, 5-10 to 5-11. Despite your critique, I didn't make this up. Thames may move to DB.

You didn't make it up, but you know most likely that someone did and you repeated it. Thus making you a dumbass. You've been following recruiting long enough to know that most 40 times, unless verified at a combine are ********. Same thing with height and weight. It isn't exclusive to MSU. We had a WR show up for camp this week that went from his listed 6'2" to 5'11".

The thread was about Chris Smith, how he was rated highly out of HS, and what is he doing now. And as usual, you chime in with an exagerrated 40 time. Even those 40 times you repeated from college camps are usually ********. The minute OM decided to offer Terrell Grant, I'd bet they shaved some time off of his "camp 40" before telling Yancy or whoever about him. The players themselves shave time off of them before reporting them to the recruiting services. 40 times reported from camps are no more accurate than those that are self reported by the recruit and you know it.

And the "nobody else recruited him because they knew where he was going" is ******** too. I watched Smith player against SP a couple of times. He was a very good HS WR. He has potential. He could turn out to be a great player for MSU, but schools don't give up on great recruits because of who they committed to. Did everyone give up on Fletcher Cox after he commited? What about Pat Patterson? What about Pernell McPhee? No they didn't, because schools don't give up on players they really want. If you are happy with Chris Smith, who cares what other people think. It's like you are trying to prove to yourself that he is great.</p>

The reason people find comedy in your post is because (as Shmuley explained) you always exagerrate. You are almost never realistic. Every post is sunshine or exagerration. You could help yourself by occasionally being realistic.
