Who cusses Mullen when he gives up...

in the first half vs Bama and aTm? I'm all for Mullen being an ******* when needed but he flat out gave up in both of those games and they aren't the exception. He's done it before last season vs LSU and Bama. Giving up on your team is the most deserving of an *** chewing than any personal or playcalling mistakes the assistants make. Mullen is being stubborn as 17 with retread Les too. Whose gonna chew Mullen's ***? (this post is not directed to you Cadaver)

Mullen's offense has improved every year he's been here. The defense clearly had gotten worse.

No it hasn't. It's been bad -- and it hasn't gotten better. It's been good only by Croom standards.

yr - Scoring O, Rush O, Pass O, Total O
2009 - 72, 9, 113, 69
2010 - 48, 16, 87, 42
2011 - 72, 38, 94, 84
2012 - 60, 84, 59, 80

We've had ONE offense that was slightly above average in scoring.
We've had THREE offenses that were above average in rushing, although the most recent one was pretty bad.
We've NEVER had a pass offense that was above average.
We've been above average ONCE in total offense.

We had 2 elite rushing teams - 2009 and 2010. Outside of that, EVERYTHING about our offense has been pedestrian and below average. Just another reason that we've GOT to have changes on that side of the ball...

This answers maroonmania as well. Imagine your boss walks into your office and dog cusses you, ridicules you, and just flat out talks down to you in front of the rest of your co-workers and workers that are under your supervision. That is unprofessional. It may not be publicly through the media but still unprofessional none the less. It may not can be heard from behind the ropes at practices but that doesn't mean it's not happening.

In other words cussing a coach or talking down to them in front of the players they are responsible for coaching and the rest of the team. My line of thinking is if I screw up you can call me in for a meeting and call me everything but a child of God behind closed doors. I can deal with that. I'm a man (Mike Gundy voice), but do not belittle me in front of everyone especially those that report to me.

Not sure if this ever happened with Wilson, but 100% it has with Les and also with Hud.

There is a theme in this post that most (including myself) don't want to accept. Like it or not Croom made us a physical team. I don't want to give that man credit for much with our program, but there has been a steady drop off of how physical our team is with each passing year under Mullen. I hope we go back and find this over the off-season.

First, I'm not defending Mullen for being an *******...

just pointing out that most successful football coaches at high levels DO tend to be that way and it is not that unusual. I mean its pretty obvious to anyone looking that Chris Wilson primarily left because Mullen made it clear he didn't really want him anymore as a DC and NOT because he got his feelings hurt. And given the intensity and passion that's involved in coaching and working in a high level football environment there is no way that is an apples to apples comparison with a normal office working environment so in my view its pointless to even go there.

Not making excuses, but not many teams face defenses like Bama, LSU, and Auburn (not last year). That skews the numbers somewhat I think.

That may be... But the argument was against offensive improvement -- which we clearly haven't shown.

In fact, it makes our numbers even more disconcerting this year, because of the low level of competition.

Our defense was supposed to be STRONG this year is the difference. They were supposed to carry us this season. Instead they brought us down.

The offense was average but they were supposed to be average this season. We had many questions coming into this season. And while I would like to see Les go, defensive changes were more urgent in my opinion.

Our DL play is to blame.

PJ Jones missed 1/3 of the season and never really got on track
Quay never got to play more than a few plays for some unknown reason...and also needed an attitude adjustment
Nick James came in out of shape- and then needed an attitude adjustment as well
Virges was a non-factor
Cherrington played snap after snap for some unknown 17'ing reason

Autry spent the first half of the season adjusting to SEC football
Eulls just isnt a DE- needs to add a little weight and move to DT

Blame falls on Wilson and our players as well- but that was the biggest problem with our defense in 2012

Now- why didnt Wilson make some different moves and do some different things to help that group? No idea...as I said- blame falls on both groups

The statement isnt true. The offense was below average. And all we heard the lasst 2 years was how much better the offense would be once Tyler took over at QB- but yet it wasnt. It was almost identical to 2010- except we traded rushing yards for passing- had 30 less yards per game- and were 10% worse on 3rd down conversions.

The mantra was "if the OL can give Russell time, with our Sr WR's- we will have a really good offense"

To me PJ Jones was the biggest disappointment. I expected a lot more out of him than we got this fall. We better hope he, Evans and James all get their heads out of their asses.

@Dawg61, bravo sir.....bravo. Your comments are as accurate as they come! Let me explain something to you guys about "commanding" a group of young men. And since most on here aren't like C34 and I and had the opportunity to stand there after a humiliating defeat and have every eye post game look to you for answers and something to build upon either for the next season or the next game. It's a powerful thing guys. I have a son who is going to be (God willing) a pretty good football player. And after his games it's not me he's looking at on the 50. It's his coach. I've been the guy (or am the guy, thank you C34) it is a powerful thing that words cannot describe. Parents, kids, fans, media, players and superiors all looking at you. Wondering what is about to be said. There is nothing wrong with THAT GUY being a jerk. There is nothing wrong with that guy being a Dungy-esque type of coach either. But let me tell you something that THAT GUY better be. He BETTER be measuring himself by the same standards! And he can NOT waiver! If he is the Saban type and he wants to be successful he damn better be that way ALL the time to everybody! Because if he ever waivers and lets up....he's lost his team! All it takes is once! One time to pull up and it's over! It'll spread like a supercharged cancer throughout the entire team and before you know it finger pointing, calling guys out and not being held accountable for it, players quitting, quitting on plays in the game etc..etc.. I'm not saying this happened and I'm not saying it didn't. I can say this, sometimes the guy you as a coach WANT to lead....just doesn't have it in him to be a captain.

Now changing gears a little bit, did any of you actually think we'd beat Bama or LSU? REALLY? This past season comes down to this.......3 games. Engie has already showed you people based on statistical evidence that in the 8 wins....the defense was better than the offense. Now before you people go all buck wild and say "Well we are an SEC defense, we SHOULD'VE been better and be able to stop them." Isn't Mullen an offensive coach? Well considering that plus the statistical data engie has provided aren't we an SEC offense too Vs. weak competition on defense? Look at the stats people the only reason you people are pissed about Wilson is because Johnny football wore us out! But didn't he do that to everybody? Even against Bama! The only teams that stopped or REALLY slowed them down was teams with elite level DEs and Vs the 3-4 OLB. And that is because the ends or olbs are used to keep him inside the pocket. Then interior blitzes are used for pressure. That's why LSU, UF etc etc had success Vs aTm guess what Bama doesn't have...edge rushers. You can't beat him with out them! So in a nut shell it comes down to REALLY 2 games. Is the difference between us having what most of you even would've loved to have.....a 10 win season. Vs TSUN Wilson's defense forced enough opportunities for our offense to close. That fact is Mullen's offense didn't! We had 3 turnovers and some of you people keep failing to mention a shanked punt by a pretty stout TSUN punter that gave us GREAT field position! We got little to nothing from our OFFENSE! You can't ask more from the D than what the did in the first half. We score 2 TDs in that 1st qtr and the air leaves the building. And he didn't call the defense Vs NW but we still played well enough to win. I like Geoff alot, bit do you honestly think our philosophy is going to change THAT much with him as DC? If you do I bet you also believe Mullen is going to change offensive philosophies too for a 1 yr player. This is ridiculous!
